This pretty little guy is a plains garter snake (avalanche morph). That's a double visual of albino and black and white axanthic. Fun fact about him, he's the sweetest to handle in his litter ,but always picks food fights with siblings. π
Eloise is going into labor right this very moment!!! We might just miss out on Shrek: the musical.
Wish Eloise a healthy birth!!!!

We're based out of Missouri and really appreciate and want to celebrate MO species! β₯οΈ
Checkered garters (from Texas π’) or California red sided garters πare awesome and beautiful snakes too! Just can't be found in our home state.
We hope to spread some love with beautiful captive bred snakes . Maybe folks will think twice before pulling out a shovel on that wild garter snake in the backyard. What backyard natives have you spotted lately?
My camera man skills may be lacking, but today we learned some of our plates we assumed were lead safe are not π© glad I tested!
The plates that passed the test will be washed and added to the snake feeding plate collection! What should we do with the lead ones?

How to ship a snake safely:
First things first is checking temps. Never under 32 or over 90 between home and all the hubs to your destination.
We like to give our snakes a soak before packing. This makes sure they're hydrated and reduces the chance they'll poop π© in transit.
Always use heat/cool packs when appropriate and never skimp on shipping supplies.
We have our buyers pick up at a FedEx hub so their snake is held at a safe temp until ready.
What snake is on your wish list?

It's time to get her highness Eloise out of brumation. Our babies slept cozy in the fridge for about three months! It's been too long since we were blessed with her presence. π
Do you brumate your reptiles ? Comment the species you keep and when you put them down for their winter nap!

My goodness this boy is sweet!! We're obsessed with how calm and curious he is. β₯ He's one of the first avalanches we've put up for sale-his new parent will be lucky to have him. π

Garter snakes can be total escape artists, and we get a lot of questions about what tank to use while babies are too small for display and bioactive setups.
These water resistant storages from target have a gusset & 6 clamps around the lid that prevent escape. We drill small holes in the lid and along the top of the enclosure for ventilation. https://www.target.com/p/ezy-storage-79-3qt-ip67-waterproof-storage-box/-/A-81967135 (Not sponsored, any similar tank would work great.)
All tanks need a heat source on a thermostat set between 90-95 F (32-35 C) . For this setup, a heat mat or heat tape is easiest. For our bioactive tanks we usually prefer heat panels. Placing the heat source to one side lets your snake regulate their own temperature by moving to the warm side or cool side as needed for comfort.

These were too fun to play with!! We often bathe our snakes to help tame them down and as part of regular health checks. This time we got to add an extra step.
Posca paint markers are a bit pricey but we think worth it to help buyers reliably ID their baby.
What do you think?
