🐾 Our June 8th Adoption Event Recap 🐾

We're thrilled to share that our adoption event on June 8th was a huge success! Here are some highlights:

🐶 10 wonderful dogs found their forever homes during the event.
📝 Additionally, 5 more dogs have pending adoption applications.
💰 Thanks to your generosity, we raised a total of $478.00 to support our club's efforts.

Paws up and many thanks to all the rescues who participated & brought amazing fur-babies: Compassion Animal Rescue, Old Dominion Humane Society, One By One Deathrow Dog Rescue Inc., Petty Pawz Rescue, SFC Virginia, & Stafford County Animal Shelter.

Thank you to all the fabulous vendors who came &/or donated to the awesome raffle baskets!!

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our amazing members, and additional volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to make this event possible!

PREPARING DOGS FOR A BABY
Babies bring big changes for everyone in the family, but the changes this brings for a dog are often underestimated or overlooked.

The arrival of this “strange creature” often means less attention, a lack of predictable routines, strange noises and smells, strange equipment and perhaps restricted access to certain areas or even lots of visitors.

Just as it takes time in planning, preparing and getting ready for a baby, time should also be taken in getting a dog ready for changes this will bring.

Change is not always easy. Any stress about how your dog will react will be easier to cope with by knowing you have prepared well in advance.

Think about the different scenarios a dog will need to get used to and gradually introduce these so that dogs don’t negatively associate changes and different routines with a baby’s arrival.

Preparing well beforehand and then closely managing interactions between your dog and baby is really important for safety, peace of mind, building positive associations and creating positive relationships.

Dogs generally adapt well to the arrival of a baby but it’s important to plan in advance to make this transition as stress free as possible for your dog.

🍌 1 Ripe Banana
🥜 1/2 cup all natural Peanut Butter
🥛 1 cup Plain Natural Yogurt
🍯 1 teaspoon Honey

📝Instructions:
​
1️⃣ Heat the all-natural peanut butter up in the microwave or on a stove until it is easy to stir. 🔥
2️⃣ Mash the ripe banana in a bowl. 🍌
3️⃣ Mix in the plain yogurt. 🥛
4️⃣ Add honey to the banana and yogurt mixture. 🍯
5️⃣ Stir peanut butter into the mixture until everything is well combined. 🥜
6️⃣ Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container and place in the freezer. ❄️
