September is National Puppy Mill Awareness month and we have created a quick guide to help you determine the difference between a puppy mill vs a reputable breeder.

First, we wanted to define what a puppy mill is for those of you who may not be familiar with the term. According to the definition from the The Humane Society of the United States a puppy mill is an inhumane, commercial dog breeding facility in which the health of the dogs is disregarded in order to maintain a low overhead and maximize profits.

If you want a puppy, please consider all of your options such as your local humane society, rescues (there are breed specific rescues as well!), or reputable breeders. Getting a puppy is a huge commitment, so please do your research before making your final decision!
