Memorial Day is a day of remembrance and reflection for those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces. We should also remember that human heroes aren't alone in their service and sacrifice, as many canine heroes have also served alongside them. These four-legged soldiers have been used in various capacities throughout history, including as scouts, messengers, guard dogs, and even bomb-sniffing dogs.

The relationship between a soldier and their canine companion runs deep. They form an unbreakable bond that is built on trust, loyalty, and mutual protection. Many times these animals put their lives on the line to protect their handlers or fellow soldiers.

Let us always remember and appreciate their sacrifice.
