Attention all clients of dogs (and cats) with extra toes.
This client has rear dewclaws. Because they are non weight bearing, the nails on these toes never wear down. You will need to have them trimmed regularly (monthly typically) to be sure the nail does not over grow into the paw pad.
For polydactyl cats (cats with an extra toe on any foot) there is usually a nail that grows in between the last normal toe and the extra toe. This nail must be trimmed regularly as it often is forgotten and grows into the cat’s foot causing discomfort, limping and infection requiring medication.

Winter is upon us and it’s time to put safety first and plan ahead. That means getting outside to shovel, sand/salt your driveways, walkways, sidewalks and stairs any time it snows or there is abundant ice buildup.
On the days you are signed up for van service, please understand that if your property is not cleared of ice, I will text asking for a household member to bring your dog to the van. If no one is available, your dog will not be picked up and you will be billed for the missed day.
