One of the best ways to start changing your life is to focus on the things you have now that bring you joy. Your brain works hard to bring you more of what you focus on. When you focus on the positive you will start to have better relationships, experiences and more moments of joy everyday. What are the things you have now that bring you joy?

I have been thinking about making this post for a long time as I am seeing more service dogs (both well trained, fake and everything in between) I think it is important to start teaching 3 things....
1. A service dog will not fix you and is not the right fit for every person with a disability. Service dogs are more along the line of furry therapists. They can help support you and remind you to take care of yourself but they can not do it for you. Especially on the Psychiatric (PTSD, Anxiety, OCD, etc) service dog line. These dogs can disrupt a behavior or comfort you during a panic attack but you need to be doing the work on a personal level to learn ways to de escalate from an anxiety attack or trigger. You need to be doing the work with a therapist to process and move past the trauma. The service dog can't take the past away or fix your future. You have to find ways to move forward. Service dogs are also a lot of responsibility and take years of training/maintenance. There are hours of training, care, exercise and play every week. Expensive vet bills and food. You need to have healthy food in order for you service dog to be healthy enough to do their job. You need to research and learn what the healthy options are for treats, food and exercise. Fir example, Dog parks can be detrimental to service dogs if they have a bad experience. Be careful when choosing who they play with. Being aware of the other dogs in your surroundings to avoid out of control dogs while working so your dog is not attacked. Keeping your dog physically and mentally fit is so important. They can't do their job if they are not well balanced!
2.emotional support dogs are not service dogs. They help their person but do not have the same level of training as a service dog or the ability to go into places where pets are not welcome. Please don't bring them into stores, restaurants, movie theaters, etc.
3. Not all dogs can be service dogs. Service dog life is extremely stressful for both dog
