On August 16th we celebrate Saint Roch, the patron saint of dogs (c 1295 - 1327) known for healing people struck by the black plague.

After healing many others, when around the town of Piacenza (Italy) he discovered he himself was struck with the plague. He decided to trust God and went to await his death in a remote area. There a dog brought him food daily and licked his wounds. A spring arose near him to provide him with water.

After being healed he was known for traveling with dogs.

Trust God's plan! No matter how difficult life gets believe and praise God!
