Gaara and Nala hanging out right after we did some herding with @gaara_the_maligator he has such a natural ability for it 🤘🏼 he was able to pick out stragglers and keep the herd together the whole time. He is really good about being fair with his corrections and really wants to work for his handler. All of which, in my opinion, are super necessary traits to be able to herd and have a good time doing so. Joanna is f**king killing it with my boy! We took Chancla and Mugen out for their first outing in public. The outing was focused on engagement, capturing wanted behaviors and promoting forward, confident behavior, even in new places. Chancla is only 8 weeks old but is showing a lot of promise. She is very task oriented and naturally focuses on what she’s put her mind to. She is very environmentally sound and although she can be very sweet, is not really interested in other people other than to say hi and then she’s on her way to do other cooler things (which I love). She’s a fast learner and she retains info readily, I love a dog that can learn and change behaviors on it’s own without looking to the handler for every little thing. This is the type of dog that I am going to have to earn and im looking forward to it. Can’t wait to see what she brings to the table when she’s older.

Boggie’s first time in the sheep pen. It was a quick little introduction to the sheep and letting him figure things out mostly on his own. I definitely had to make sure I was super alert being that there are two tiny lambs in there so helping him by asking him to relive pressure at some points was a must. Their mom was not having it and tried to ram him twice. Excellent with kids, not so much with strangers unless we say it’s ok. This dog will be literally the most loving, affectionate dog you will ever meet if we tell him you’re good. Come to the property without me there and you might just get snatched. To me, having a social dog is not about it being friendly with EVERYONE but it is about trusting me to make the call on who is and ISN’T a threat. If I tell my dog that this person is cool, then my dog needs to act accordingly. Trust me, even if I tell him you’re cool, if I ask him to light you up, he will do so gladly. You don’t HAVE to have one of the two extremes. People have bred dogs to fit pretty much every niche, if you’re looking for a specific kind of dog, there’s probably somebody out there that breeds for it. It might be hard to find. It may take you years to find it but it’s out there, just gotta be diligent and put in some effort. **To be clear** I am not saying every or even that most working dogs are good with kids.
