I haven’t made Rustic Honey Oat in awhile, but it’s curing now! A great recipe with a terrific blend of several oils, as well as shea butter, local honey, ground oats for a bit of gentle exfoliation, and lots of moisturizing goat milk. It smells great, too! It will get a bit darker as it cures. Message me or PM me to reserve some…it will go quickly! I can mail soap to out-of-towners!

Lemongrass, one of our goat milk soap batches with pure essential oil in it, will be ready August 12! I have about 50 bars of it, and a dozen have been reserved already. **Please comment or PM me if you’d like to reserve some.

Petals at Flannel Rose Boutique is soon to celebrate a big anniversary! They special-ordered the soaps in the first picture. I’m happy to take custom orders!
The second picture is a new batch of Lemongrass, curing now. Smells so good!
Lastly, we looked high and low for Bindi yesterday, and Lowell finally spotted her tucked away in this little basket up on a table. I thought she had managed to get outside somehow. Not yet, little gal!

Queeny Lime zinnia, giant purple zinnia just starting to bloom, calendula flowers, pole beans starting to bloom. Heirlooms take longer to flower and fruit. I’m trying to be patient.

These are a few of my favorite things: Pink Blush nasturtiums, calendula, those dramatic tiger lilies (here for many years before we moved here), and a beautiful bounty of borage.
Now if the tomato babies would grow a little faster….

We’re here in Studio 10, Upstairs at The Gosnell in 12 Points, until 8 o’clock tonight! There’s a lot to see down on the street, but come upstairs also to see some of us and our creations. You can shop, or just window shop!

I think this butterfly is a pipeline swallowtail, with one row of orange spots. Does anyone know what the plant is?? It was here before we moved here. Very orangely dramatic! I’m guessing a type of lily.

Fireworks in the garden?! That dill in bloom sure looks like the 4th of July nighttime sky.
Tomato plants are blossoming, pole beans are climbing the trellis, and nasturtiums are peeking through the bush beans and other plants.

Our next open studio night is Friday, July 5th. These Lavender Lace and Simply Lavender bars will be cured and ready! We have a few other kinds available and more batches curing. We have wooden soap dishes, crocheted cotton soap saver bags and crocheted cotton cloths for bath or kitchen uses.
We’re in Studio 10, Upstairs at The Gosnell in 12 Points. We gladly accept custom orders, with 4 to 6 weeks lead time needed for curing the bars.
We’re also available at Ditzler Orchard, Petals, Baesler’s, and Merle Norman Day Spa.

Plants in the raised beds are starting to take off, now that we’re having warmer temps. This heirloom bush bean has purple blooms, and the beans are also a vibrant purple. Beautiful! When cooked, they turn bright green.
Baesler’s Market has been restocked with soap, including Eucalyptus Mint.
** We have several soap kinds available for tomorrow’s First Friday in 12 Points, 5-8 p.m. Come upstairs through the purple door and check out some new studio artists!

We’re still having adventures here at Goat Haute, the most recent being broody hens who have hatched chicks. This mother hen is fiercely protective of her babies, so they roam with her along with the rest of the flock. Another hen has brand new chicks that she hasn’t brought out of hiding yet.

What great weather we’ve had the past few weeks! Pepper and tomato plants would probably like some warmer daytime temps though.
I’ve enjoyed getting the new raised beds going, and lots of grow bags, too. We’ve already been getting lettuce, mixed salad greens, some herbs, and snap peas. Five or six heirloom tomato varieties are looking good…also mini cantaloupe, carrots, bush and pole beans, dill, lovage, a few basils, sage, rosemary, thyme, and oregano.
Herbs and flowers are interplanted with the food plants to guard against pests. Young lavender is blooming, calendula will be soon (great for soap making), zinnias and teddy bear sunflowers are up. I can’t wait for the borage to bloom!

I had fun browsing at Glendy’s Antiques today, and found this interesting wire egg holder. Kinda cute! Also cute are five small chicks with their mother, plus an older chick whose mother was terrible! She left him on his own and he’d run around the barnyard crying, so I put him with the good hen who promptly accepted him.

2- 2yo does in milk.
1- 3yo doe in milk, still nursing a buck and doe. kid.
2- big wethers, one is trained to pull a cart. The other is very tamed and could be cart trained too.
Herd was established 10 years ago from Bruce and Klisse Foster's award-winning goats.
Herd has been closed other than occasional leased bucks.
Does are excellent producers.

I’m probably late to the party on this gardening tip, but we recently put a mailbox in the raised bed area to hold hand tools. It keeps them dry, and I always know where they are.
Usually I don’t have much planted until after Memorial Day, but the raised bed set-up has allowed me to start much earlier. We have lettuce and other salad greens right outside the back door in a separate bed, and the big trough beds have herbs, tomato plants, ground cherry plants, flower seedlings, and bush beans starting to take off. I can’t say enough good things about an online course I took from Gardenary. Nicole Burke has really improved upon other raised bed gardening methods.
Now if I can eliminate some of the snails and slugs that are already snacking on leaves…

How many ways can a goat kid break a leg? I don’t know how Bryson did it. Thankfully it’s a clean break. Thanks to Dr. Holscher at Airport Vet for taking care of this little guy this morning. My only criticism is that the splint has chickens on it. Bryson would have preferred bunnies, because they hop really well.

First Friday in 12 Points is tomorrow night!! I’m in the studio today, getting things ready. We have the following soap kinds on hand: Lavender Patchouli, Cozy Oat, Apple Sage, White Tea & Ginger, and Lemongrass.
