1 year old Hayven came to us super scared of people and more like a feral dog. She is still very timid but has learned to walk on a leash and is becoming more confident every day.
We are looking for a foster to adopt home for this sweet girl that has a calmer environment to not scare her.
She gets along well with other friendly canines.
She will be spayed and chipped prior to adoption.

Might want to cut back on socializing...

Important Public Announcement! ‼️

As of this morning, our shelter dogs appear to be feeling unwell with some sort of viral infection. We are unclear of what the virus is, but we do know that it must be contagious.
The symptoms are coughing, sneezing, and some are vomiting.

We are taking the necessary steps to treat those that are showing symptoms, but we have no way to isolate when we are this full. For now, we are placing all holds on owner surrenders.
We are still required to take strays, but we hope the public understands that we cannot guarantee that the stray dog will not get what our shelter dogs have as it is also in our stray hold wing.

We advise that all Fluvanna residents take extra precautions to make sure your pets are secured and cannot run off. We are hearing reports of other canines in the area having weird viral or bacterial symptoms for the last couple of weeks.

If you have specific questions about this, please don't hesitate to contact us directly at the shelter at 434-591-0123 between the hours of 9-5.
We hope they all start feeling better soon. Right now, we are monitoring and treating as needed.

Are you looking for ways to help out? We are in desperate need of more volunteer transporters to add to our list to call when in need.
Specifically, we are looking for help in transporting cats and dogs from our clinic to vet clinics for spay and neuter and others for pickup from that said clinic to return to the shelter.
