Its blazing hot across the country right now!! Keep your pups SAFE.
The Heat Index is figured out by using the chart below. The relative humidity and the actual air temperature meet where the two numbers cross to give you the best index and how warm it actually feels to our bodies.
Dogs normal body temps run between 100 and 102.6 so if it's hot for you, its REALLY hot for them!
Stay Safeand in where its cool! Now is NOT the time to start your hunt conditioning training!
1) Get out of the direct sun!
2) Hydrate! Always provide clean fresh water
3) if possible provide a water pond for your pup to get in and out of with ease
4) if you have a kennel set up, consider putting up.a mister system. It lowers the air temp by 20 degrees! The mister system is cheap at approx $30 compared to an emergency vet visit for heat stroke!

Heat Stroke can happen to anyone at any time. Even a pup who paces in his kennel can get heat stroke in weather like this!!

We are officially fully operational now that our move is complete!
We are super honored to welcome Jennifer Wiley who brings 30 + years of experience two days a week ( Wed and Thur). Jennifer was formerly at Exceptional Pets up until they closed and prior to that she groomed in San Diego! She is a fantastic addition here at the Happy Hound!

Hello Tubac!
As many of you know, The Happy Hound has moved to 25 Tubac Rd. ( formerly on Frontage Rd)
We occupy the space behind Ruby Jane's beautiful boutique and the beautiful shaded walkway that you walk down to get to our door has several posts that are covered in trailing vegetation (ivy)
These posts, as well as the small gravelled landscape area in front IS NOT your dog's potty area!!! Please do not allow your dogs to urinate along the walkway (it stinks) and please, if your pet must p**p, be prepared to pick it up and take it with you.
Someone kindly left a p**p filled baggie in front of Ruby's store and this is absolutely 💯 NOT OK!!!
I'll be putting a specific trash receptacle at the door of my shop for emergencies, however please be mindful that I need to dump this p**p trash at my own expense, in my own garbage can at home when I empty it.
Please be courteous and please pick up after your dog.

Sonoran Toads are a menace. Yes they eat bugs, and are generally fairly benign until they are locked or ingested. Dogs get addicted to the toxin, which is like an Acid trip for them.

Most owners are unaware of what to do.
If you suspect your dog tangled with a toad, immediately rinse their mouths out as best you can with clear cool water. Take a microfiber cloth and thoroughly wipe their mouths, tongues and inside the cheeks with one that has been made wet and rinsed . Do this several times.

Things to know - your dogs eyes will dilate. They will stumble, circle, whine, and tremble uncontrollably. The effects of the toxin, even after rinsing and wiping out the mouth will hang for 60-90 minutes, during which time seizure activity can, and sometimes happens. If your dog is having seizures get to an ER DVM ASAP
