Panda loaches are so cool. They are definitely one of my favorite nano fish. We get them in every once and a while, but they don't stay long. I need to keep some for myself next time and experiment with their water parameters.

I'm pretty exhausted from work today. It's nice knowing that even if I don't have the energy to care for my shrimp, they will still do fine. I don't think people realize the mental toll of having to care for everything. My advice to someone starting a fish room, take it slow, but build it in preparation for what you want. There is so much overlap in fishkeeping and tech. When I realized that, I started prepping my Aquariums better, such as starting on the bio film and invertebrate level then moving up to fish.

There is an art to breeding goldfish. I realized this when I first hand bred a pair of goldfish. It was truly a momentous occasion. Sadly the art is not as appreciated when for profit private equity has the most sway. Which is why it was important to me to source imported fish from family owned businesses. As I recover, I hope to one day continue the practice.

I love shrimp. The more you keep fish, the more you appreciate how crucial they are to any ecosystem. They are one of the best cleaners in an aquarium. Sadly due to their role in the ecosystem, many creatures predate them. They normally outpace them in the wild, but in an enclosed system, they do not have such a luxury. The world might be falling apart, but I will always have my shrimp. Neocaridina shrimp are extremely hardy and they do so well in our tap water. With normal Arizona temperature, they can be kept in an aquarium without a thermometer. But the future might not be so bright with climate change and the destabilization of our polar vortex.

Dead on arrivals are very common. Most of the time it is due to shipping companies poorly handling the packages. Sadly to them, the lives of these amazing creature are nothing but numbers. Please do not ask about the businesses involved. The amount of loss on the regular due to elements outside of my own control really drained the passion out of me. When it is unavoidable due to the fact that I have to make a living doing this, I broke. Thanks to the support of my family and friends, I am in a better place now. I would say this is the sole factor why I no longer run the store. I don't have the heart to continue in this industry. I will be slowly transitioning the fish to be entirely locally bred with the help of my experienced parents.

It was a very happy time breeding and raising my first pair of angelfish. This was the first month of the stone location. I would get 200 fry a week. The pair produced many offspring, far exceeding my ability to care for them, so I had sell the parents. They went to a younger fellow who was well informed of their care. He had done prior research and we talked well into the day about angelfish. I was contacted the following day and was informed they passed. It took a toll on my mental health.

Neolamprologus Multifaciatus were one of the first fish I got when I opened this store. My first time keeping them ended in failure due to a sudden cold front in the middle of winter. But I tried again a year later with a colony of 20, double what my first attempt was. They were fed baby brine shrimp daily and the population doubled within the week. This picture was the first batch of fry that hatched. The group grew to 200 at the time, but they were not as popular that year.

I made a CPD breeding tank using old equipment. So far, it's planted with peacock moss, Anubias barteri, java ferns, and cryptocoryne wendtii. The moss is clumped together in a collection bin and the plants are clustered sparsely. The goal is to have them breed in the moss, but they are depositing eggs all over the aquarium. I sadly lack the eyesight to collect the eggs, so a batch of ~100 eggs will go to waste today. Luckly they lay eggs daily, as do most danios do.

If you are looking for a good centerpiece aquarium, I have a few apistogramma triple reds left. They are great fish for warmer Amazon style Aquariums. They inhabit a lower area of the aquarium and love to pick at baby snails for food!

We got some magenta mystery snails in this week! They are a reddish brown coloration with the occasional magenta look.

In this picture there are several females in the background with this male. Betta Imbellis all have a wild betta look with a more calmer personality compared to splendens.
