What is a coursing ability test? FUN for your dog!
“The dog must complete the course with enthusiasm and without interruption within the allowed time.” Oh….and no potty on the field (that’s a fail, 😞)
The course is designed for dogs new to coursing for maximum safety and the chance to show they can follow a lure. There is a time limit 1 1/2 minutes -2 minutes depending on which course you are running:
300 yards (half course): dogs shorter than 12 inches at the withers and/or brachycephalic dogs.
Veteran dogs of this size have the option for 200 yard course: OPTIONAL for veteran dogs (7 years old or older).
*1 1/2 minutes time allotted for these courses.
600 yards (full course): all dogs not running a short course.
Veteran 77 years and older) dogs of this category have the option for a 400 yard course. OPTIONAL at the owner’s discretion.
*2 minute time limit for these courses.
Pass/Fail for all runs!
CA (Coursing Ability) new title: 3 passing runs under two different judges.
CAA (Coursing Ability Advanced) new title: 10 passing runs!
CAX (Coursing Ability Excellent) new title: 25 runs!
CAX2: 50 passing runs!
And higher title for every 25 passing runs……..the fun never ends!!!
