Temperatures on Monday will likely be a degree or two warmer than Sunday. Widespread 80s to 90s are expected across Puget Sound, with cooler temperatures along the immediate coast.

No Daycare-July 8 & 9 due to Heat Advisory.
Seeing a range of temps 97 to 103 for both days on different forecasts.
I'm on-site caring for boarding guests. Boarding area stays cool even in high temps so boarders will be out for short potty breaks as temps rise. Planning to have daycare the rest of the week as long as temps drop slightly.
Limited check-in & check-out times are still 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM & 3:30 to 6:30 PM. Please have boarding guests checked in by 6:00 PM.

PSA: A bear has been seen traveling around the area of Tumwater Blvd, the Olympia Airport, and Israel Rd. Earlier this evening he ran past one of our officers and climbed a tree in front of the police department. The bear has since fled back towards the airport off of Tumwater Blvd. You are being asked to be vigilant and put away your trash bins. The WA State Department of Fish and Wildlife are aware of his presence in Tumwater. We believe he’s trying to make his way to the fire department to help them spread the word that with the hot weather coming our way, Only You Can Prevent Wildfires🔥

The real world impacts of intoxicated driving:

This photo is from Sunday mornings high speed collision, in which DUI is suspected to be a factor. The vehicle pictured is that of the victim, who was struck by a pickup truck at high speed. The truck did not stop for the stop sign at Sleater-Kinney Rd NE/26th Ave.

Thankfully, the victim driver survived. Had anyone been sitting next to them in the car, they certainly would not have survived their injuries. The causing driver was ejected from their vehicle, and while I was on scene stabilizing his neck in the ditch while medics responded, I could smell the alcohol on his breath.

Shortly after, the victims wife showed up on scene with her children while firefighters cut the victim out of their car.

Your choice to drive impaired has very significant and very real consequences. The causing driver is a young man who now faces criminal charges of DUI and felony Vehicular Assault, which carries a sentence up to ten years in prison, $20,000 fine, and this is before the victim sues you for everything you own and your future wages for damages.

Before you drink, make a plan on how you’re going to get home safely. It will save your life and the life of someone else.
