Monthly Feral Fiesta TNR NEVER disappoints. Once a month I wake up at 5am, round up a bunch of feral cats, get to this location no later than 630am, and wait for a hour while Haven Humane SLOWLY opens the clinic for people to check in. Unfortunately they don’t have a better method, like an online waiting list, so every month without fail, there are arguments like this. People cut each other in line, they gossip the whole time, sneak cats in. They only take up to 50 feral cats at a time, so it can get spicy when people think they won’t get their ferals in. It’s worth it every time. Trapped a bunch of females this go around that were fixed!!! We do keep cats in livetraps overnight to recoup after surgery. YAY for TNR! #feralfiesta #tnr #feralcatsofinstagram #spayandneuter #nonprofit #animalrescue #shastacounty
Update on Miss Gracie. She has been at the vet now for 6 weeks. She has gained 10 pounds and she’s much perkier. I’m waiting for the next step, which will be removal of her bummy leg. Then we will get her into a specialist to address her hips.
Regarding her weight and what caused it:
-She came in at 19 pounds and now weighs 29 pounds.
-She was extremely malnourished and neglected
-the vet thinks this was due to negligence and malnutrition and not “health” issues.
Regarding her legs and hips:
-After bloodwork, X-rays, slow feedings, and 24/7 care from the vet, she has mentioned that Gracie needed a total hip replacement on both hips and this is why after several years of no medical attention she is the way she is.
-Muscle atrophy has caused weakened bones and in then turn at sometime a long the way Gracie possibly broke her leg which is why it’s bent the opposite way it should be bent. This leg needs to be removed…
-there are a few other options for her good leg…which will in turn also go out soon if nothing is done…
-she’s a good wheel chair candidate if all else fails
I asked about humane euthanasia, because I don’t want her to suffer to make myself feel better about this situation. The vet and the staff don’t want her euthanized and think she can live a happy life. She seems in great spirits. This made me feel a lot better on the steps we are taking with her.
The bad: her medical bill is already at $4000 without the leg removal and the specialist…we need help. Please feel free to call Cottonwood Small Animal Clinic directly and donate on our account or to Gracie specifically. (530)347-3706
I will continue to post updates as they come, it’s been a slow process with Gracie and it will continue to be slow. Thank you so much to Cottonwood Small Animal Clinic for taking care of Gracie and putting up with my craziness. Never a dull moment.

‼️‼️We are pulling Oliver from the euth list at Coachella. We desperately need to raise funds for transport and medical for him. He’s around 3 years old and was possibly hit by a car. He may need his leg amputated. He’s so sad…We need a foster commitment for 4 weeks if anyone can help. He will need a mellow foster home while recovering from amputation if the vet removes his leg. He is around 55 pounds and people friendly. He is listed as a pit bull terrier, but he looks more like an American Bull Dog mix. He hasn’t been tested around other dogs due to his injury. He needs out of the shelter by Wednesday the latest. Please help! ‼️‼️We are pulling Bella and Edward from the euth list at Coachella. We desperately need to raise funds for transport and medical for these two seniors. They have been neglected for some time now and are both due for medical appointments for treatment and altering. The male has skin issues among other things and the female may have some arthritis due to bad elbows. We need a foster commitment for 4 weeks if anyone can help. We don’t want to separate them. They are 7 and 8 years old. They are people and dog friendly. Please help! We are struggling with vet bills currently. We have no funding coming in. This is just 1 out of 3 vets that we owe money too. Since Gracie has now been in hospital for almost 3 weeks her bill is $3,000 which isn’t yet invoiced. We are $8,000 in debt at one vet…our main vet. We can’t bring in any new/current animals to the vet until we get the bill down to around $2,000. I’ve attached the QR codes for our Venmo and PayPal if anyone can help. You can also call the vet directly and donate on the account. The phone and account numbers are on each invoice. Please share. #help #hailmary #fundsneeded #donate #charity #501c3 #volunteerbased #animalrescue #dogrescue #catrescue #nonprofit #debt

In 2019 and 2020 we trapped a lot of puppies and feral dogs in Hoopa, CA. Gracie was one of them. Originally her name was Lucy and she was a few months old when she came to us. She was a special puppy and the vets said her brain was possibly underdeveloped. She had a little bit of weakness/wobble in her back legs, but we thought that was due to her being “slow”. Her foster ended up adopting her and we were unaware that her medical issues had progressed so extensively. We were also unaware that the adopter wasn’t financially able to get Gracie the possible treatment she needed during these last few years and she’s slowly deteriorated. The adopter does love her, but somewhere along the way things have been lost. We were contacted by the vet that spayed her for us as a puppy. The Riverside shelter contacted her to get info on the owner, she then contacted the rescue. I contacted the owner to figure out what has happened to her and how she was found as a stray: She explained in detail that financially she cannot afford to do diagnostics which can cost upwards of $6,000.00. I would like to get her into the vet ASAP to be seen for bloodwork, X-rays, pain meds, other meds such as possible antibiotics or steroids, and more diagnostics. Her adopter said she thinks she has seizures a couple of times a day. She’s not on any medication currently. I’m not making this post to bash the owner right now, she has surrendered Gracie back to us and I have given all of her information to animal control and the animal shelter for their investigation which they are handling, she is being cooperative. I can’t answer questions directly about the situation. I’m making this post pleading with our almost 4000 followers on social media to help with donations towards our current vet bill and Gracie’s vet bill. We need help…we need help bad. We are under and we can’t leave Gracie to be euthanized in a high kill shelter. She deserves to be seen, she deserves quality of life,

This is Nike. She is one of 3 dogs we will be pulling over the next week that were found in an abandoned dog fighting house in Long Beach, CA. She was used as a breeder dog to continue giving birth to “dog fighting puppies”. There was no food or water in the abandoned house, just the three dogs. We have no idea what she has endured so far, but it’s evident that she has had many litters. She was slated to be euthanized after 09/17/23 when the criminal investigation was completed. We tagged her and finally on 09/22/23, she starts her transport journey to us. It’s safe to say that she’s happy to be out. These three dogs will cost us thousands of dollars to rehab and care for until they go into appropriate homes. We need a foster for Nike or a patient adopter to show her love. Please share and please donate to the fundraiser in our instagram bio. UPDATE: HE’s ALIVE!!! Beau was saved today from Coachella Campus Shelter in Thousand Palms. The shelter is 11 hours from our rescue and with no transport help or advice, it was a long, rough, and scary day for all parties involved especially Beau. Our lead volunteer who runs the rescue was trying to figure out logistics of pulling and transporting Beau by end of day today, all while waiting to go into her own out-patient surgery at 230pm! Unfortunately, when shelters are euthanizing for space, there are no holds. You either figure it out or the animal crosses the Bridge☹️It’s been a stressful day to say the least, but we wouldn’t change it for the world. We had until end of day today to get him out. @mystory_for_a_forever_home picked him up from the shelter and transported him to Palm Springs, where @pilotsnpaws volunteered to fly him out to Redding, CA to transport to our rescue. There is no rush with our rescue and he’s safe. Thank you so much to all the people who have volunteered or donated, we couldn’t have done it without y’all. Now that we have him, we actually think he’s a Pyrenees/Anatolian mix. His foster home said he’s doing great so far, other than being a little anxious from the long day of travel. Doesn’t mind the other dogs, cats, or farm animals so far. #saved #fosteringsaveslives #savealife #rescue #foster #adopt #spayandneuter #adoptdontshop #redlist #euthanasialist #lastcall #dmx #nonprofit #volunteerbased #animalrescue #farmsanctuary #lgd #pyrenees
Beau has until tomorrow to get out of the shelter. He needs a foster commitment for 2 weeks. He’s located in SoCal, but transport can be arranged to most places in California. #emergency #urgent #coachella #savealife #rescue #foster #adopt #euthanasialist #redlisted #help
