It's National Black Cat Day!! Black cats need a little positive PR as their reputation as an “omen of bad luck” is well-known (and unearned, frankly).
Rachel is a member of our team here at Vernon Pets. When it comes to caring for your beloved pet, you can count on her for the most compassionate service from beginning to end. Rachel has four cats of her own that she loves deeply. One of those cats being Katsuki!
"Here is my kitty – His name is Katsuki (cot-ski) and he is my big fluffy two year old baby. He loves to be held over your shoulder and is hard to find in a dark room. He enjoys bird watching and belly rubs!"

Everyone meet Quinn, the delightful companion of our Pet Specialist and Monument Designer, Rachel, and her husband, Tristin! Thirteen years ago, Rachel found Quinn in a puddle during a rainstorm, and ever since, she has been the light of Rachel’s life. This spirited little calico has a knack for bringing joy to everyone around her with her sassy personality. She’s a social butterfly who will happily curl up next to anyone who welcomes her. Quinn adores munching on Cheez-Its, chasing the laser pointer, and soaking up the sun for her daily catnap.

This week's staff pet is Jim’s Golden Retriever back home in PA, Gus aka Gus Gus aka Gustopher. Fun fact about Gus is that he loves stealing everyone's water bottles/coffee mugs even if we're not drinking them yet.

At Vernon Pets we do all our pet related engraving in house. Our staff utilizes the laser machine to engrave pet urns. Below is a video that shows you a little bit of how this works!

Scruffy, 5 years old, the beloved pet of Shelly, Nikole and Alli. You left an indelible mark on our lives. Scruffy’s love was unconditional. She brought love and comfort to all. Scruffy lived a very spoiled life, she enjoyed cuddles with her mom and play time with the kids and baby. Though her time with us was short, her memory will live on through cherished and countless laughter filled moments. Rest now, Dear scruffy may your days be filled with belly rubs, treats and beef sticks galore!

Here are Chloe and Cooper!! Victoria and Tyler’s furbabies. Chloe thinks she's a human and loves to hog the bed and couch. Cooper is 205 pounds and never turns down a treat!

Here at Vernon Pets we also offer a Specialty Package, because our small pets are family too! This is great for; hamsters, reptiles, birds, etc. All pets are welcome and are treated with care by our amazing staff. Here is a glimpse of what our specialty package can consist of!

This week's staff pet is Hanna’s! This is Patti the Goldendoddle, she got her name because she was born on St. Patrick's day! She is either outside running around or taking a nap on the couch!

Meet our other Pet Specialist and Crematory Operator, Hanna DeLong (pictured below). Hanna started with Vernon Family Funeral Homes in September 2023 as Secretarial Staff & Pet Specialist, and she received her Crematory Operators License in February 2024. She was born and raised in Mechanicsburg, where she was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School in 2021. She played softball growing up and continued her athletic career at Edison State Community College while earning an Associates of Science Degree. As a child and teen, she showed market lambs at the Champaign County Fair through 4-H and FFA. Hanna is deeply grateful for the chance to support families during challenging times and is committed to making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
