A quick PSA:

Everyone. *EVERYONE* should know how to break up a dog fight. A water hose, beating, kicking, or screaming will not stop a truly tenacious dog. Grab a rope, a leash, a belt, whatever you can, and CHOKE the dog until it drops.

This morning, as I was in my backyard watering plants, i could hear a lady suddenly start *screaming*. I walked out in the front yard and several houses down I could see a lady struggling on the ground with her lab-sized mixbreed and another dog on top of it, shaking it. Half a dozen neighbors were surrounding her, trying various attempts to break it up as she screamed, trying to protect her dog. I ran in the house, grabbed a slip lead, and ran down the road. By time I got there, I had the lead around the dog and had it choked off in less then 30 seconds.

Yes, getting close enough to the dog to put the lead on it was risky, but sometimes it is the only way to break up a fight, and in this case, neighbors had already tried all other non-lethal methods without success.

Fortunate for all of us, this was not a human-aggressive dog, nor did it redirect, but had I not showed up, the dog could have done significantly more damage as they tried to break it up.

Many don't know this information! Remember every second matters during a choking incident. ❤ 🐕🐩🐶🦮🐕‍🦺

1. Place the dog on their back. Brace the back against the floor. Straddle the dog while adjusting yourself based on the size of the dog. Position the head in “in-line position” with the airway parallel to the floor.

2. Make an open diamond shape with your hands. Place your thumbs on either side of the trachea below the ball or object. Grip the “V” of the jaw using lip/cheek to protect fingers.

3. Push with a J-stroke down and out against the ball until it ejects from the mouth.

Both this method and the Heimlich method has been proven to work in these scenarios so don't hesitate to save your dog.

ATTENTION ALL PETS OWNERS. This was just posted by a friend. 🔥

Fire in Carly’s dog crate first thing this morning. She had gotten hold of the lithium batteries in my heated gloves. It was probably a foot high. I was in the bathroom and thought something was burning in the basement. I walked into the dinning room to see flames in her crate with her sitting in the back corner. Carly is fine. Need a new crate liner and need to clean up the burnt plastic on the floor. We were all lucky! Keep anything with lithium batteries away from your dogs!. Thanks fire extinguisher which I keep in the kitchen!

This is an X-ray of a dog’s bent front leg. See that tiny white spot? That’s a microchip! It has migrated down the leg - far from where it was inserted, between the dog’s shoulders.

When lost pets are scanned, the entire body SHOULD be scanned to catch any that have migrated. But, as an owner, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AT THEIR YEARLY VET EXAM, to ask for a quick scan to make sure that: (1) the chip is still working, (2) the location of the chip is good, and (3) that the chip info is correct.

Remember microchips save lives and reunite families with their pet - just have it checked regularly!

So many of you were led to believe, by your vets, it was just the knock offs. Some telling me I'll ask my vet. 🤦‍♀️ If they didn't study further they only know what big pharma taught them...profit! STOP POISONING YOUR DOGS. Repel like you do on your own bodies. Educate yourselves on how to do it right, be diligent.
I have been successful for 3 years now using natural repellents not poisons and chemicals. No excuses.....they deserve better than what money hungry companies are doing to them to make money ☝️🤬💊💵💲

UPDATE:: unfortunately the seizures did not end up stopping like we thought they had. And on day thirty after this medication was given- we had to let Blayz go to the rainbow bridge😭💔

Today we got the call from our vet that Zoetis is paying for every bill inquired for Blayz as his death was 100% linked to the medicine.

We shared all his records with them in hopes that it helps save other animals.

They also HAVE to report this to the FDA as a death linked to the med.

Hug your fur babies extra tight— and do something cool for animals to carry on Blayz 🐾 🌈

DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE!!!

Blayz (and Banner) have taken nexguard and heartguard for years. Never having any issue. Yesterday our vet told me they had a new medicine that had all the same things combined. (Same class of drugs different actual drugs)
Blayz had his 1 tablet - and 5 hours later was puking and had his first seizure.
After being extremely lethargic and stumbling around - he laid on the couch (with people trading out to snuggle him of course) for several hours
People came over to our house- Blayz didn’t even get up when they came in (if you know Blayz you know he’s our “guard dog” you can’t even pull in the driveway without him sounding the alarm!). He did eventually get off the couch and stumbled around a bit before laying on the floor again.
At bedtime he walked out in the front yard to take care of business 🚽 and then walked up to bed and went to sleep.
At 430 this morning I was woken up- Blayz was having another seizure!
We got him through it- comforted him and monitored very closely until we could reach our vet.

After a day of IV fluids - we is back to himself. Seizure free for the day 🙏🏽 and balance appears to be back on track. I went to pick him up- and found ANOTHER lady was in there with her golden retriever - who had just had the same exact thing happen!
It’s also out there that apparently it’s not so “uncommon”, these dogs have never had seizures or neurological issues before, and Nexguard which has similar components never caused a seizure for our boys.

Do your own research-
Trust your gut instinct-
And speak up when something isn’t right.

The company immediately told the vet they would be paying for all of our bills and reimbursing us for our purchase of the drug.

But people need to know this is happening.

Also adding— that in my research I have also found that it has been causing seizures and neurological issues a few months into use too rather than first dose. Needless to say we will NOT be supporting this company any further.
