What a week! I had the great honor and privilege to give back to my mentor and friend, Louie Torres as the emcee for Unleashed Live! The first and only marketing conference specifically for dog trainers. He has changed so many lives, it’s really incredible. Ever trainer he helps succeed helps more dogs and more families. It’s simple but amazing math. Can’t wait to see what he does next.

And I would be remiss if I didn’t thank Mike Barron, Dan Simon Fleyshman, Heather Beck, Fabian Romo, Fred Hassen, Antonio Diaz, Lindsay Stamper and all the other amazing speakers for allowing me to share the stage with them.

5-Steps to Keep Your Dog Safe on the Fourth of July

1. **Create a Safe Space Indoors**
- **Set Up a Quiet Area**: Designate a room away from windows and doors, such as a basement or closet, where your dog can feel secure. Include their favorite blankets, toys, and possibly a crate if they find comfort in it[1][2].
- **Block Out Noise**: Close curtains or blinds and play calming music or white noise to help drown out the sound of fireworks[2][5].

2. **Keep Your Dog Inside and Secure**
- **Stay Indoors**: Keep your dog inside during fireworks to prevent them from getting scared and running away[1][4].
- **Secure Doors and Windows**: Ensure all doors and windows are closed to prevent your dog from bolting if they get frightened[1].

3. **Exercise and Bathroom Breaks**
- **Walk Early**: Take your dog for a walk well before the fireworks start to avoid having to take them out during the noise[2][5].
- **Exercise**: Engage in extra playtime during the day to tire them out, which can help reduce anxiety during the evening[5].

4. **Identification and Safety Measures**
- **ID Tags and Microchips**: Ensure your dog’s identification tags and microchip information are up to date in case they escape[1][4].
- **Leash and Carrier**: If you must take your dog outside, use a leash or carrier to prevent them from running off[3].

5. **Comfort and Distraction**
- **Stay Calm**: Your dog can pick up on your stress, so remain calm and use a soothing tone to comfort them[2][5].
- **Treats and Toys**: Provide treat-filled toys like KONGs to keep them occupied and distracted from the noise[3][5].

By following these steps, you can help ensure your dog remains safe and calm during the Fourth of July celebrations.

Wow, 9 years ago I was asked to be on Fox & Friends. I quickly found out that they just wanted my dogs😩😂

They are better looking anyway, though they looked completely miserable in this pic.
