We made stewed gungo and rice with our pigeon peas, and it’s the first time we’ve cooked with them. VERY YUMMY! I’ll be bringing 3 pigeon peas plants to the meeting May 8. They have lovely yellow flowers and the whole bush smells like honeysuckles.

With the approaching cold snap, Sam the Scientist has buried a probe just above the water table, and he is checking to difference between the temperature above and underground with the thought that we might be able to use geothermal methods to push the zone and plant durian and purple mangosteen in the ground. He explains it better than I can.

So many papayas! Last week it was papaya cake with papaya icing and papaya-orange juice and chicken papaya stir fry. This week it’s chicken papaya soup and coconut papaya soup.
