On our 15th Anniversary I planned a large celebration. Covid hit and changed my plans.
We barely survived Covid. The relief from the government came too late and the anxiety of paying taxes, insurance bills and staff was too much.
I felt guilty and responsible for the animals that lived there waiting to be rescued, the animals that were dying in shelters that i could save if I stayed open and the staff that had mouths to feed and relied on their jobs to provide for their families.
One person called to complain about noise. What they didn’t know was that I was in a chemo chair pumping chemicals into my chest for cancer that spread. In the end, my chemo didn’t work.
I would have surgery, then radiation. During radiation my 15 yr old daughter found out my husband had been living a double life for 5 years with a w***e and children out of wedlock with a coworker. He was home every night and weekend and never traveled. 33 years and I trusted him.
My girls and I were in shock. I could not continue my radiation. He left and was living with his w***e coworker in their apartment. I wanted to die.
My children had to pick me up, I was shattered in pieces.
My landlord at Canine Kindergarten came to me 4 days later and told me because of the noise complaint we had 6 months to vacate.
With no fight left inside of me I agreed.
This is the end of an era for me. I have to fight a bitter divorce as my husband will not allow me to continue my cancer battle but instead have to fight for my home, my animals and most importantly my children, their well being, the food and shelter they need to live and their education. Thousands of dollars on attorneys has so quickly become the priority.
Thank you for taking this journey with me and my girls. I loved the years I was there 14 hour days with Tessa at a week old and Sofia just over 3 Yrs growing a business that I thought I could hand over to my children one day.
One man destroyed my dreams and shattered everything I know.
18 years later, I say goodbye. We saved over 5,000 dogs lives and many cats. I don't know another daycare in this country or world wide that can say that. To all of our customers, your loyalty and the money you worked so hard for, went to save those dogs too.
Thank you so much for being a part of this journey with us. A most gracious thank you to all of the staff that worked hard, never stole from me and truly loved those animals in their care.

Thank you Lisa Bruce and everyone who has donated in support of our rescue dogs. This means a lot to me. A month after I started this rescue my husband and his coworker began an affair. I had no idea while my daughters and I were saving lives, he was beginning to destroy ours. Last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer spread to my lymph nodes. My chemo was unsuccessful. My husband and his coworker were having one baby after another. Again we didn’t know. We were focusing on my cancer fight and they were busy covering every aspect of this hidden life, together. I can’t even kill a bug, I carry them outside to safety. I could never imagine being the cause of so much pain to 3 beautiful women. I could never abandon my family. I now came full circle to feeling the abandonment these dogs feel every day when left behind to die or suffer.
I was mad at the rescue at first but it’s my passion and calling. These animals deserve to live. So many have died due to the deceit and betrayal of my cheating husband and his mistress. I stopped the intake of animals the minute I found out about this 5 year double life. I didn’t want to live. I now know that I am worth saving and he is not.
