We’d like to congratulate our brand new LICENSED Vet Tech Ben! He typically works in the ophthalmology department but he’s started helping us out in oncology a few days a week and we are so thankful but also SO PROUD!!!!!! You’ve accomplished so much and grown so much with our department and we couldn’t be happier having you part of the team. Go Ben!🎓🐾🩺

Despite the weather, the Viva Vienna festival was a great success this past Memorial Day weekend. Our staff at the Hope Center enjoyed meeting everyone who stopped by to spin the wheel for a prize and let us take photos of their amazing companions. You can see all the photos in the next post.

**Art Unleashed**

In May, while conducting free ocular screenings at the Service Dogs of Virginia in Charlottesville, members of the Hope Advanced Veterinary Staff encountered the creations of local artists who designed and painted fiberglass dog statues, turning them into stunning works of art. These pieces were showcased in a benefit auction to support Service Dogs of Virginia in constructing a permanent campus for training more life-saving service dogs for individuals with disabilities. These two pieces of art are truly remarkable.

It’s that time of year again: National Service Dog Eye Examination Month! This past weekend, Dr. Elizabeth Adkins, a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist at Hope Advanced Veterinary Center, volunteered her services alongside staff members Dr. Kate Keenen, Ben Crane from the ophthalmology department, and Shaukat Amin, our nursing director. They provided complimentary ocular screenings for service and working dogs during the annual ACVO-Service Animal Volunteer Eye Screening at Service Dogs of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.

Meet Churchill, a four-year-old Labrador Retriever. He came in this month for his annual eye exam as a service dog. Churchill serves his mom as a medical alert dog, assists her with balance, and retrieves items she may drop. Let’s thank Churchill for his incredible service by giving a LIKE and sharing this post.
