Oh how I wish I could add scent to this post. Since I can't you will have to use your imagination of fresh garlic sauting atop the stove for your favorite dish. It is so fragrent I can taste on my tongue. That is what my porch smells like. Spent the weekend harvesting garlic. A long 8 months from planting to this day. Now onto drying for a couple of weeks. I can't wait for the green tomatoes, jalapeños and onions to ripen so we can make the freshest pico de gallo. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Look for the Lazy Acres produce stand very soon!

Garlic Scapes for Sale!
What is garlic scape you ask. It is the long curly stalks that grows from the bulb of thr garlic. Looks like a cross between a chive and a scallion. They are only here for a few weeks and are a real delicacie as they must be cut in order to allow all the energy to go into the bulb. What can you do with them? We'll I have made pesto and froze it icecube trays to just pop our for a quick pasta night. You can grill them up and eat them whole, how about a green goddess dressing or even add them to your stirfry, the possibilities are endless. They are $3 for a bundle of 10 scapes. If you are interested, let me know they will be being cut this weekend! Take your cooking imagination to the next level! Thanks for supporting your local family farm!

Spring kids sports have begun and we are always rushed for time running here and there. Breakfast pizza is an easy make ahead idea that is a grab and go and more nutritional than a pop tart and will keep them full and fueled for their games. And the veggies keep coming....zucchini, summer squash, bananna peppers, okra, bell peppers, jalapeños, cherry tomatoes and a cucumber. If you need produce I can guarantee you can't get this fresh at the grocery store. Don't forget the farm fresh eggs as well. 👩‍🌾

Bee 🐝Knowledgeable: Worker bees live for 4-9 months during the winter season, but only 6 weeks during the busy summer months. Such precious cargo, so don't swat, step on, spray or kill. They have a very busy, important job so do your part and help preserve the bees!

This video warms my heart more than you will know. Last week our boy Poppy (Daisy and Lilly's mate) was killed and they were injured. I have had them locked up for the past week not knowing if they would survive from their wounds. The dark spots on their heads and neck is where the predator attacked them. They have not been eating or drinking hardly anything at all. I didn't know if when I went to the coop to check on them if this was the time that I would find that one or both had parished from there injuries. Today they looked much better and I thought I would let them out in a small pen to see if they would stretch there wings. They still have recovery both physically and mentally but after what I see I think they are going to be ok. RIP Poppy we know you died protecting your girls.
