We had a great day at the MSRPA Youth and Ag rabbit show. We had several juniors making only their second appearance on the show tables. We are very excited to see how they continue to mature getting ready for Mini Rex Nationals.
Our junior blue doe, Oralee was BOV both shows and BOG in show B. Tobias, junior blue buck was BOSV both shows and BOSG in show A.
Our junior chocolate buck, Ulee, was BOV in show A and BOSV in show B.
Our black doe, Oma, was BOV in show A.
The old lady of our show string, Flora (otter senior doe) won Best of Breed in both shows and went on to have double Best In Show.
We are very pleased with today’s results. However, one of the highlights was the comments both Mini Rex judges made about the quality of the classes in our breed. One comment from a judge in a class of five senior black does was that “I can’t decide where to start placing them. They are all really good.”
Congratulations to Dakota Allen for her Best Opposite Breed otter buck in show A and to Becka ODell with her Best Opposite Breed chinchilla buck.
Congratulations to our youth Mini Rex breeders - Sarah Harms and Chase Walbourn for their Best of Breed rabbits. Another big congratulations to Chase for winning Best In Show for show B with his otter doe.

Traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska for the NTOP rabbit show. Always a great show with lots of competition and judges that we don’t normally see. Our small mini rex show string held their own bringing back some group wins and nice comments. But the high light was once again putting up our new breed Blue Holicer and watching people’s reactions. Many had never seen one in person. Love to hear their comments about the head and ears on the bucks. I may have been the only one with this breed so Best of Breed and Opposite was pretty much a given but…. Dwarf’s Nest GER1 aka “Gerard” was given an honorable mention on the Best In Show table. That was a win for us!!! Congratulations to Travis Knight and Shelby and Amanda McAvoy for their breed wins in mini rex! Also, huge congratulations to Chase Walbourn for his Best In Show and Reserve In Show in show B with his mini rex and rex.

Gidget gets “Mom Of The year” award as not only is she raising her own singleton but one from Xiamara and Donald, one from Luna and Louie, and two from Lottie and Louie. The two from Lottie were given to her last weekend after Lottie decided to be a fool and broke her back. Lottie was raising five. They were three weeks old when they had to be divided amongst all our mama does. All are doing great with their new mamas

Traveled to Hutchinson Kansas this weekend to participate in the Kansas State Rabbit Breeders State Convention. Had a wonderful weekend with lots of our rabbit friends and got to put up our Blue Holicers as a recognized breed for the first time. Baptist Ridge Odette finished her showing career with a Best of Breed in Mini Rex and Dwarf Nest’s 1HAL aka “Harold” won Best of Breed in Blue Holicer. Congratulations to Mallory, Liz, and Chad Beason on winning Best Opposite breed with a chocolate mini rex buck and a beautiful senior Blue Holicer doe.
Between the Beasons and Switzners, nine Holicers were put up for evaluation under Eric Stewart. He did an amazing job and I learned even more about this breed listening to him and visiting with Lizz about how they develop. Looking forward to future shows with not only our mini rex but with our new adventure in Holicers.

What an amazing ARBA Convention!!! Just being a part of the 100th was a thrill in itself but to watch the 52nd breed, Blue Holicer, be recognized was something we will always remember. Five of these very unique rabbits traveled back with us to start our Blue Holicer program. We are so excited to begin raising and showing these beautiful animals. We took five Mini Rex to put up on the show tables. We were very happy with our results.
Black senior does, Rue and Odette, placed 17th and 7th out of 43.
Blue senior bucks, Louie and Zeke, placed 6th and 3rd out of 8.
Chocolate senior buck, Uncle, placed 5th out of 10. We also were honored to be asked to donate a rabbit to the 24K Auction. We chose to donate a junior white doe. Thankyou to Amanda Wampner for purchasing her.
But what made it the most special was sharing this experience with some of our dearest friends from all over the United States and meeting new people who we now call our friends. The people we have met in this hobby is the best thing about raising rabbits. Until we see you again whether it be at local shows or next year’s convention we wish everyone a great year of successful breedings and luck at the show tables!

Steve got to travel with us to the Midwest Classic in Sedalia MO to see what the show life might be like in the future. He was admired by many as our rabbit family new and old learned about Blue Holicers. We are so excited to welcome this new breed to our rabbitry as they go for their third presentation at the 100th ARBA Convention in October. When they pass, they will be the 52nd recognized breed of rabbits in the American Rabbit Breeders Association. 💙💙💙

EDIT: All three of our ladies have new homes. We look forward to hearing back from the new owners as to how they do making pretty babies for them.

GC Baptist Ridge Hazel - a proven broken black otter doe. DOB: 3/11/2022. She is out of a broken lilac doe (Baptist Ridge Alice) and a black otter buck (GC Baptist Ridge Finn). Buck was the BOSG Tan group winner at ARBA convention 2021. SOLD
Baptist Ridge Olive - a proven black otter doe. DOB: 5/14/2021. She is out of a chocolate doe (GC Baptist Ridge Nellie) and a black otter buck (GC Baptist Ridge Valor) Olive was kept as a brood doe due to her extreme width and straightness of her back legs. We are keeping a doe out of her to replace her. SOLD.

These does can be delivered to the West central Youth Club Show in Clinton, MO on Sept. 9th or to the MidWest Classic in Sedalia, MO on Sept. 16th.

Had a great weekend at the Midwest Trailblazers Rabbit Show. Three shows, three Best of Breeds. Dave’s chocolate doe, Baptist Ridge Bernadette won in Show B. Kynley’s white doe, Baptist Ridge Xiamara won Show A and C going on to win Best In Show today. Congratulations to Savannah Twyman and Chase Walbourn for their Best of Breed wins on the youth side with their Mini Rex going on to get a Reserve In Show and a Best In Show.
Wonderful weekend with our rabbit family with lots of laughter and fun!!

So we traveled to Maysville, Missouri to show in the Pony Express Rabbit Club Show today. Our grand daughter did not attend with us as it was just too early of a morning so we had permission to show her white rabbits for her. 🤪 Well her white rabbits did very well. Baptist Ridge Donald won Breed and went on to win Best In Show. Her white doe, Baptist Ridge Vivian won Best Opposite Group earning a GC leg.
Congratulations to Heidi Walbourn for winning BOSB with her otter doe.
Congratulations to our youth Mini Rex breeders for their wins Chase Walbourn won BOSB with a broken buck and Savannah Twyman won BOB and Reserve In Show with her broken doe.

Congratulations to Kayla Grismore and Pam Bixenman on their Best of Opposite breed with a broken buck and to Twin Falls on their Best of Breed and 2nd RIS with their broken doe. Congratulations to Chase Walbourn for his double BOB and BOS in youth and going on to win a reserve in Show. Good day for Mini Rex.

So our granddaughter has claimed our white rabbits. Last weekend at the Kaw Valley Rabbit Club Show in Gardner, KS, her doe, Xiamara won Best of Breed, Four Class and Best In Show. We weren’t able to get a pic of Kynley, the rabbit, and her trophies until today at the Youth and Ag show where Kynley got to come and help us show.

Want to congratulate Miss Lydia for her BIS with Baptist Ridge Fern and 2nd Reserve with Baptist Ridge Preacher at the Smoky Hills Rabbit Club show this past weekend in El Dorado, Kansas. We are so happy to have helped Miss Lydia get a start in her future breeding stock and can’t wait to see what she produces.
