Mia looks like she’s had a stroke and is now paralyzed in her back legs. I’m not positive, but she’s a mess. Ocean State vet was useless last night. As soon as a few animals came in after us, they, as usual, pushed her aside and did nothing. We took her home without getting any kind of diagnosis or treatment. So now she can’t get up and can hardly move. She can eat and drink but it’s difficult. I’ll take her to my vet Mon after work to see what’s up.

My gut tells me she will have to be put to sleep. I don’t know how she can live like this. Like I’ve said to others who lost a pet after a long life: If our pets live to a ripe old age and has a happy life, we did our job. Mia is 14 and a very happy girl. We did our job and loved her every day of her life. I knew this was coming.

Prayers for my little girl are appreciated no matter what the outcome.

Mia is on antibiotics in case she has a UTI, but if that’s not it, she might have liver and/or kidney disease. She’s been herself, so it must not be causing discomfort for her. I don’t think she has a UTI though. Not ok.

Looks like the dogs finally adjusted to the time change. I got to sleep until 6:30 this morning. Felt good.

Hi folks. I’m starting a new full time job on Nov 15th, so my day care will be closing. John and I have given a lot of thought to this decision and it will be very difficult to dog sit while we are working full time. Plus, Mia has Cushings disease and stress makes it all worse. We are dealing with that.

I’m forever grateful to everyone who has chosen us to care for your pups for the past 7 years. We have built some great relationships and friendships. It’s a tough choice to “close”, but it’s in our best interest.

Many of you got a text message from me. Please be sure to understand what I wrote.

Thank you all so very much!!!!

My little 14 yr old Mia is starting to slow down. Her back legs are weak and she drinks and pees a lot. Cushing’s disease. Her body produces too much cortisol. I don’t feel like the meds are helping. Otherwise, she is still a little cutie spit fire. That hasn’t changed. I love her so much. I give her kisses and pick her up as much as possible. Not taking her for granted at all until her dying days…whenever that is.
