Ok as promised…
Here are our sweet girls!!
Their names are official!
The grey (who is a dilute calico with tabby stripes) is named Amelia.

The tortie is Maya.

Thank you Teresa Watson for the name suggestion!!

The girls are getting so big! Amelia is the bigger of the two and she hit ONE POUND last night. Little sister Maya is just shy of that weighing in at 14 ounces!

Maya is our little adventurous girl and was the first to climb up and out of their temporary house. They have now graduated to a BIG house. It’s like a mansion to them! And makes my bathroom feel so tiny. That is a 42 inch dog crate for a 100 pound dog. It’s housing less than 2 pounds of kittens. 😂
When I set it up I had to get inside it to get the bars to come together. I could sleep in there with them.
They will be running around the bathroom in no time so they won’t have time to even grow into it.

This weekend I’m away and the girls are spending time with foster “aunt Terry”. Thank you so much for keeping our most precious babies!!

Hey friends I have just put an item on our Paws and Love Amazon wish list to help with the bottle babies we’ve been taking in. We could really use a baby wipe warmer. We use water/aloe wipes for their t**h and face and no one likes them cold. There’s a couple extra items of high need on there if anyone can send these we know it will help our babies so much!

Rescuers face numerous challenges during operations, with additional access-related issues further complicating the situation. Nonetheless, our focus remains on locating the missing mother and fourth kitten, as one of the kittens was nowhere to be found when we arrived. Mother cats often conceal their young in tight, overlooked spaces, and as rescuers, we must be vigilant and search these often-overlooked areas. We understand that privacy is important, but our primary concern is the wellbeing of the mother and her kittens.
Please welcome our newest orphans (only because the mama is missing).
Note: these are NOT the ones washed out from under a trailer. These are our second set of 2 week old bottle babies to come in since Sunday. They came with some spice too 🤣

Saw this gorgeous rosy maple moth this morning on the blue building where our kittens are at the rescue.

An adult Rosy Maple Moth, an exceptionally rare species of moth almost exclusively found on the east coast of North America.

Rosy Maple Moth: Signifies love and emotional healing. Represents the beauty and delicacy of emotions.

This is so fitting with the wide range of emotions rescuers go through saving lives, especially delicate and vulnerable kittens!

I had the most incredible time foster sitting for my remarkable, special needs foster mom who deserved a much-needed break! Guess who came to stay with me? Jules and his new friend, now known as Indy (short for indigo due to her striking eyes)! Jules had a brief setback when his temperature dropped, but a quick trip to the vet and some supplemental heat did the trick. Poor guy also has ringworm, but he's already looking better after starting treatment. I picked up Indy from her foster home to take her to her new, longer-term foster home, but she seemed a bit under the weather. A quick vet trip revealed she had coccidia, so we got her started on meds. She's a bit small and hungry, but she's already showing interest in solid food! She was found on a porch alone and weighs only 5.5 ounces. Check out the before and after pics, and a couple of sweet Jules!

JULES UPDATE !!

Who's ready for some good happy updates.
I think we all need a break from the ugly that's been all over FB lately.

Thursday, I returned from being out of town and went to pick up and meet for the very first time, little Jules !! He was so tiny and so precious. He is full of love, s***k and so much personality. I don't know how it all fits in that tiny little body of his. He LOVES giving head boops and when you snuggle him, he takes his head and boops you in the face, on the chin, and nuzzles in for lots of little kitten love.

I drove Jules to his foster who has tons of experience with helping the most fragile, the medical, and the wee ones. He is in great hands.

His little tail nub is still very tender but has to be cleaned twice daily. This is a very hard thing to do when you have a huge heart like foster mom does.

Jules has a hearty appetite and will eat and eat! He devoured his wet food, and then went in for the crunchy. The crunchy is still too big for him but he gave it his best. Foster mom put some water in the crunchy food to soften it for him. He was already at 1 pound 1.5 ounces on Thursday when I picked him up. He will be hitting that 2 # mark in no time!!

Remember that all funds raised will help us provide necessary care for the ~100 cats who reside in our sanctuary as well as assist with our TNR program. It’ll be a win-win - you’ll already have a gift for that colleague, friend, or family member and the funds raised will help more cats! 😸🐾

JULES UPDATE:

Hey !! Dr. Juez called and gave an update. First Jules is actually a BOY !! The great thing is that Jules is a gender neutral name so the name will be staying. It also means "youthful" and this is definitely a young kitten. There was so much inflammation back there that they were not able to see the tiny testicles but today the swelling is down even more and they found tiny little boy bits.
Jules has continued to gain weight. He is very bright and has a great appetite. His stools have improved and are now more normal for a kitten. There's no telling when the sweet boy ate before we got to him, or what he was eating.
They are overall very happy with his improvements and they will call us again tomorrow but for now they are planning on releasing him to us to go home tomorrow afternoon !!

Thank you all for the support so that we can save the life of sweet little Jules ! I spoke with Dr. Juez today and she is improving and doing better than expected for her first 24 hours. She has already put on some weight, about 3 ounces. The medication got rid of the maggots and that brought down the swelling in that area significantly. She is still hospitalized and will stay there until Thursday.
We could not help babies like Jules without your love and support !!

Our local animal shelter in Washington, NC is FULL!! These are just a few of the cats that are there with more not pictured in this post. If you're looking to add a feline (or canine) to your family, please stop by the shelter ASAP!! When public shelters fill up like this, it's only a matter of time before they have to euthanize to make space.

If you're unable to adopt, there is also a need for fosters. Please share and spread the word!!
