On Sunday animal control received 2 separate reports of sick/injured vultures. These vultures were in rough shape, no balance, unable to stand or fly and uncontrollable shaking. Both vultures were taken into Watertown Animal Control’s care where ACO Mosakowski was able to secure 2 spots at a raptor rehabilitation center, A Place Called Hope.
A Place Called Hope worked their magic by testing, doing radiographs and giving IV fluids/pain medication. Nothing showed up on these tests! We were all confused and scratching our heads. We thought these birds were actively dying. Well they were just severely intoxicated…yes, they were DRUNK! These two had been dumpster diving and found something fermented enough to cause them to be so intoxicated, they couldn’t even stay awake.
With some fluids and time to recover from a wicked hangover, these two were released back into Watertown on Tuesday.
We ask that businesses keep their dumpster lids CLOSED so wildlife can stay sober (seriously)!
Dice enjoying (?) a spoonful of peanut butter🥜!#
This sweet boy has opened up to us so much and is finally feeling comfortable. We have had a couple inquiries about him but it seems everyone thinks he’s pretty small.
Dice is approximately 45-50lbs! His legs are pretty short but he’s a beefy boy!
Please call 860-945-5217 or email [email protected] if you’re interested in meeting this stud muffin!
**If you are looking for more information in any of our dogs, please call or email and do not use Facebook we do not always see messages or comments**

Someone’s LOVING the snow! Checkers burst out her kennel this morning ready to zoom in the fresh, sparkling snow!❄️🐾
Stay safe out there everyone.
As 2023 comes to a close, we at Watertown Animal Control would like to thank everyone who has supported us. Either by adopting, donating, sharing and being overall an amazing community. Without that support, we could not do it!
Currently, we only have 1 dog up for adoption at the shelter. Miss Checkers!
Checkers is wonderful dog who deserves the warmth of a home in the new year.
Checkers is 1 year old, female Pit mix (where are our pittie lovers at!?). She loves people and strives to please her people. At this time, she needs to be the only pet, but thats because she wants you all to herself!
If you are interested in Checkers, give us a call at 860-945-5200.
Happy New Year to all!
Checkers is a 11 month old mixed breed looking for her forever home!🐾♥️
Checkers was found roaming late one evening in August but when advertised, no one came forward to claim her!🥺How could someone just leave a beautiful, sweet puppy!? She is an extremely smart dog and VERY food motivated. Smart dog + food motivation=easy to train!🎉🎉🎉
Checkers prefers to be the only pet inside the home as other animals are too overstimulating for her (we believe she was never exposed to other animals before coming to us). She is high energy but relaxes when inside the office with us. Due to her high energy, we are looking for a child free home.
Checkers bonds quickly with people once trust is built and will follow you everywhere. She will need a patient adopter who will allow her time to adjust to a new environment and give her time and space to decompress.
With Checkers being with us going on 4 months, we are concerned that soon, all she will remember is a life inside a kennel. Would you have it in your heart to give this little lady a chance?🤞🏼🤞🏼
You can fill out an application for Checkers here:https://cms7files.revize.com/watertownct/Police%20Department/forms/pet%20adoption%20application.pdf
If you are not able to adopt but would like to donate, please consider donating from our Amazon Wishlist. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/33UI6CRFT7BDU?ref_=wl_share
Could this possibly be anybody’s cat?

We are asking that he go into a home without children under the age of 10.
He is extremely sweet and outgoing💕

We have a feeling this sweet boy may have been a dumped dog but are hoping otherwise!
We have been calling him ”Forest”.
We are unsure of his age, as he looks older but has great teeth and good energy! Forest is completely blind and still learning how to navigate his lack of sight.
If you have any information on this sweetheart, or even know whose dog he may be, please call 860-945-5200.
Forest will be on a mandatory stray hold until Tuesday April 25th.
Sunday Funday with Saint and a spoonful of peanut butter!🥜🐾
