Happy Friday! We hope you have as much fun this weekend as this litter of puppies did at their first exam. 😆
Msichana getting in a good workout with Amy, our physical rehab specialist, and help from assistant Shannon on the tread! You go, Chana.
Digging through kitty litter has never been so exciting! 😂🐱
Duncan is running to tell all of his friends about Wauwatosa Veterinary Clinic's Halloween Pet Costume Contest! Join us in our parking lot on Saturday, October 30 at 11:30 am. Judging will take place at 11:45 & prizes will be awarded for MOST CREATIVE, CUTEST, SCARIEST & BEST OVERALL. Of course we'll also have trick or treat bags for all of our furry friends. No requirement to RSVP, but we'd still love if you posted below if you plan to attend so we have an idea of how many trick or treat bags to have ready!
Please keep an eye out for an email that will be hitting your inboxes soon. We wanted to give you a heads up because it's really important to us that you read it. There is a lot happening in the veterinary profession right now and and we know it's impacting you and your pets. We want you to be informed and we want you to know how we are responding and how you can help. We appreciate all of you and please know that our staff is doing EVERYTHING possible to give the BEST POSSIBLE care and service to you and your pet(s)

Laser Therapy
Vera enjoys her cold laser therapy with Amy, our Physical Rehab Specialist. Interested in the benefits of laser therapy? We'd love to chat with you to see how if may benefit your furry family member! 414.475.5155.
Duncan is channeling his inner feline and tearing it up on the cat wheel! Have to get that puppy energy out somehow 😄
Jake Walking for First Timne
Have you been watching our buddy Jake's progress as he recovers from spinal surgery? If so, then you'll love this video of him arriving for his Rehab appointment. It was the first time that we got to see him walking ALL ON HIS OWN! It was hard for us not to have a couple of happy tears seeing how much progress this amazing boy has made in just a few short months.
Jake in Rehab - February 2018
Wondering how our buddy Jake has been doing lately? This is a video from one of his Rehab sessions earlier this month. He's graduated from his quad cart and now gets around just with help from his Help Em Up Harness!

Fear Free Vet Visits
Have you heard about the "Fear Free" movement in veterinary care? We have always worked hard to help our patients enjoy their visits with us and to reduce stress wherever possible but we are excited to begin formally introducing Fear Free techniques into our practice. Three of our staff members, Shannon, Kaila and Cali recently attend a workshop to learn some of the techniques involved in going Fear Free and we will soon have officially Certified Fear Free Professionals on staff helping to guide our clinic through this great approach to patient care!
Jake showing off how fast he can move in his quad cart
In this video, Jake's had a week to get used to using his quad cart now and his mom reports that he absolutely loves being outside in it and having some of his independence back. For a minute we thought we wouldn't need to have a leash on him...until we discovered how fast he could move on his wheels -- we had trouble keeping up with him! Check out his happy tail too. :-)
Jake trying out his new wheels for the first time
Thanks to our Helping Paws Fund, which is supported by our generous clients, we were able to order Jake a special Quad Cart from K9 Carts to see if it would help take his mobility to the next level. As you can see, he took to it pretty quickly and seems pretty excited and proud about his new wheels!
Jake reaching for treats
Here's Jake mid-November at 4th Acupuncture session. Each week he has been getting electro-acupuncture and massage to help stimulate his nervous system and muscles. This time, he was able to roll himself over and sit up on his own. We were thrilled to finally see him starting to pull himself towards treats and retracting his back legs. (Sorry the video is sideways!)
The fabric you see underneath Jake is actually a custom-made sling that our Rehab specialist, Amy, made to help our patients and allowed us to get Jake in and out of the car easier and gave us the ability to hold him up in a "standing" position to test out his proprioceptive deficits and neurological responses.
Pickles on the Cat Wheel
If you've ever been down in our Rehab area, you've probably seen the big black 'hamster' wheel that we have down there to use with cats and small dogs. Here is our friend Pickles all dressed up for St. Patrick's Day showing off her wheel skills. The hardest part is slowing her down! :-)
