We had such a fun morning with a terrific group of students!

Some of our therapy dog team facilitated a program for the second graders at Cherokee Elementary School. I’m so proud of today’s crew who brought lots of smiles, laughs, & exuberant wows. My week was happily complete when an entire group gave heart hands. 🫶

Today is Veterans Day, a day to honor and thank all the brave people who have served and sacrificed for our country. We also want to recognize and appreciate the special role that animals play in the military and in the lives of veterans. Animals have been loyal companions, helpers, and heroes for soldiers throughout history, providing comfort, support, and protection. 🐶🐱

Meet Maggie!
Earlier this year she was rescued from & this week she officially graduated as a working service animal for her veteran handler. Maggie serves her handler through many tasks which include mobility assistance, object retrieval, & medical alerts. I can NOT express the happiness & huge moment of accomplishment felt for this team as they have overcome much adversity along the way. I’m honored to work with Log Dog & to help make this dream come true. Thanks to Maggie’s handler for putting in such consistent hard work, & thanks to Maggie for helping prove that rescues can NOT be counted out.

Now is the time to make preparations for those dreaded fireworks. I anticipate they will be starting this weekend, so make sure you are prepared!! While ours do fine with the annual semi-pro show put on a few hundred yards away, many animals (and those with PTSD) really struggle.

** UK graphic, Nov 5th is like our July 4th, all the same when it comes to 🧨🎇🎆. Quit yer freaking out. Stateside it's New Years, 4th of July, and anytime weirdos can get their hands on explody things. This is an excellent graphic no matter what your country. For those raising a fuss, we have a worldwide reach here. **

We were honored to be recognized as this month’s federal Grantee Experts on Animal Assisted Therapy, hosted by JBS International & Office for Victims of Crime. Thanks to our team of dogs who assist in providing innovative interventions & making a huge impact in the lives of others within our WNC community. Featured dogs & also today’s participants: Julip, Mazzy Star, & Mavis. Our other AAT team members include Cash, Jovie, Lila, Oliver, & Raya Sunshine. Dog advocates include Ebony, Lulu, & Sadie & Service Dog representative Emmie.
