It has been a little over two weeks since Five Star won his two championship titles at the Great American/USDF Region 3 Dressage Championships in Ocala, FL. So it is about time that we catch up with Five Star’s trainer, Kevin Kohmann, to find out what Five Star has been up to in the past weeks and what their plan is for the rest of this year.

“After we returned from Ocala, Five Star got a well-deserved rest for a few days,” says Kohmann. “Since then, we have been working on the Grand Prix exercises, and we are preparing for our international competition debut in November in Wellington at Global.”
Kohmann’s plan is to keep Five Star in the small tour for a while and, in the meantime, work on the Grand Prix exercises.

Two out of two for Five Star and Kevin Kohmann at the Great American/USDF Region 3 Dressage Championships in Ocala, FL!

Thursday they were champion in the Intermediate 1 test with 75,515%, and yesterday they scored 78,162% in the Prix St.Georges test. It was more than enough for their second championship title this week!

Kevin was thrilled with Five Star’s performance in Ocala.
“Yesterday was very good but today he was perfect,” said Kevin yesterday right after the prize-giving ceremony.
“It was the first time that we traveled together to a showground we have never seen before, and while there were so many other horses around, he behaved amazingly.”
About his score, he jokingly said: “No 10s this time but six 9s!”

𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝟏𝟎𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 Kevin Kohmann Dressage 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫!

It’s a very rare phenomenon in the international dressage world to see a judge give a 10 for a movement, but FEI judge Ann Cizadlo gave two of those highest possible scores to Kevin Kohmann and the gorgeous stallion Five Star (Amazing Star x Jazz) in a Prix St. Georges test in Wellington, FL, in July.
“Five Star is an extremely impressive dressage horse, and Kevin is doing an excellent job with that horse. The test I watched was the best I had ever seen him ride. I cannot wait to see where these two go in the very near future. It should be extremely exciting,” commented Cizadlo.

Kohmann is just as excited as Cizadlo. “This summer is when Five Star really started to develop and over-achieve. I think the higher degree of collection needed for the Grand Prix just helped us so much overall. Five Star’s scores and performance went through the roof,” smiles Kohmann, who is planning to compete the approved KWPN-stallion at the Great American/USDF Region 3 Dressage Championship at the Florida Horse Park in Ocala, FL, in the first week of October.
