Hello! I'm Jessie Moon Marks, a local professional dog trainer with a true passion for teaching dogs and humans alike! I have over 3 years of experience in psychiatric service dog training and in problem-behavior resolution. I offer training for all those wishing to build up obedience, improve focus around distractions, or to learn specific tasks- such as carrying in groceries or calming someone during a panic attack. I also offer behavioral training to improve confidence and social skills or to resolve unwanted behaviors such as excessive barking, leash-reactivity, or aggression. I am considered a "positive only trainer" and my methods revolve around increasing desired behavior through positive reinforcement and replacing undesired behaviors with what we would like to see instead (sit for greeting instead of jumping up for a greeting, for example). All of my methods are based on the most recent scientific research and are proven to be effective without the negative side-effects of punishment. I have a unique game-based training style sure to produce results and smiles alike! For any training to take place, however, a dog must have satisfied his/her exercise needs- particularly working and sporting breeds such as labs, shepherds, pits, terriers, etc. Many problem behaviors are actually rooted in a lack of adequate exercise. Did you know that a dog walk doesn't actually count as exercise unless the dog is trotting and able to get his/her heart rate up? For large breeds, this is where bike-runs come in! Bike-runs and fetch are my two favorite forms of exercise for working breeds. On Rover.com, I offer 30-45 minute bike-runs, walks, and check-ins. Interested in my training services?
