It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of veterinarian Dr Osorio. He was such a kind, compassionate, and wonderful man and the Veterinary community is mourning this great loss. Our hearts go out to his staff and all that had the pleasure to know him and he will be remembered in our hearts with love always.
We are currently without power and phones due to the storm. In case of an emergency please contact Central Hospital in North Haven or the Guilford location. You are still able to leave non urgent messages on our voicemail that we will check periodically throughout the day. We will notify when power is back on and we are able to open.
If any clients are having trouble getting there prescription diets call me at the office I can order them directly.
Needs a home!! Meet Pumpkin!! One of our clients is fostering this cutie but is unable to keep her long term. The foster mom has other cats and unfortunately Pumpkin prefers to be the only cat in the household. She is very sweet with humans, up to date on vaccines, Felv/FIV negative, and spayed. She is probably about 2 years old so she is full grown at 5.5lb. Any interest please let me know
Idexx has tested thousands of dogs and cats, and all came up negative for the coronavirus strain that causes COVID-19.
COVID-19 UPDATE - We are currently open and increasing efforts to limit exposure.
In an effort to provide care that is needed but also to try to keep you safe as well as as our staff we have implemented some policy changes.
In order to reduce exposure, you will not be able to accompany your pet into the clinic. When you arrive in the parking lot, please call our office at 203-934-5295 and we will take a patient history over the phone. A staff member will then come out and es**rt your pet into the clinic. Examinations will be performed while you wait safely in your vehicle, and most, if not all, communications will be accomplished via phone as well as payment by phone as well. We are not accepting cash at this time.
- Dogs must have a leash securely attached at all times, and cats must be in a carrier.
- Routine examinations, non-urgent visits and elective procedures will be rescheduled to a later date.
- Once we can be certain that person-to-person contact and close proximity is safe, we will resume scheduling routine exams and non-urgent visits.
- We are asking that pet owners who are experiencing symptoms, who have tested positive for COVID-19 or are in quarantine do not visit our clinic. Please seek out someone to bring in your sick pet.
If you need to pick up medication, please call us when you arrive and we will organize your prescription and take payment over the phone.
We do have our own online Pharmacy available through our website or you can call Apryle at the office and we can make arrangements to have medications delivered to your home as well as prescription foods.
Dr. Claypoole at this time is suggesting to to have at least a two to three week supply of prescription drugs that are critical for your pets.
Thank you for your understanding during this time.

Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine
Close members of our hospital family, lost their beloved cat, Alexander, over the weekend when the Sentry Calming collar he was wearing got wedged into his mouth and strangled him while they were out of their home. The collar was applied correctly and is promoted as a "Breakaway" type collar which is an appropriate type collar for cats. It appears that there was a petition for a recall 4 years ago but the collars were never recalled by the manufacturer at that time and continue to be widely distributed. Please be very careful!!!! If your cat is wearing a Sentry collar, we would like you to understand that the collars do not seem to breakaway reliably enough to limit risk to your cat. ALSO - ANY collar your cat is wearing should easily break if enough pressure were applied to protect them should it get caught in something. Please share in honor of Alexander, he was just over 1 year old. We want to try and prevent this from happening to another family.
