Seems his owner who threw him away couldn't sleep at night so he called ACO saying this starved dog needed help. Buttercup is a 10-year-old 10 lbs. Shih Tzu poodle mix (Shi-Poo). She is partially blind, but otherwise very healthy.
She was found tied to a fence at a dog park one morning in September. She has adjusted very well to life with her foster family. Buttercup is a complete and total lap dog. If you're looking for a dog that will stay on your lap and enjoy spending time with you, this is the dog for you.

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, making this a great time to celebrate the joy and love an older cat can bring to your life.

While older cats can be just as cute and cuddly as younger cats and kittens they often spend far longer at the shelter before getting adopted. But they have so much going for them and can make an amazing addition to your family!

Take their temperament: Older cats have learned the ropes of life and have had time to let their purrsonalities blossom. And unlike kittens and younger cats, older cats are often quite content with loafing around the house, bringing zen-like energy that makes you want to rest and relax with them and just chill out!

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, and we're celebrating by offering 50% off adoption fees for animals ages 7 or older, like our Pet of the Week Cisco.

Cisco is a 10 year old Chihuahua mix with years of experience accompanying his favorite person on their daily adventures. This older gent is an explorer at heart - he loves car rides and walks - and will never leave your side once you've earned his trust.

Cisco takes his time warming up to new people, but he rewards your patience with lots of snuggles! He isn't the biggest fan of children under 12, larger dogs, or cats. He would do well as an only dog or with another dog of similar size - after a meet and greet at the shelter.

Cisco thanks Purina for providing delicious food for all felines and canines at the shelter as they wait for their forever homes.

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month!
Aldi is a gentle old soul who loves a good cuddle and always has a great welcome for you! He is extremely well trained and is very good about snoozing on his bed as opposed to on furniture. He enjoys short gentle paced walks and is very obedient on a leash. He is a pleasure to have around and enjoys human company, especially rubs and kisses if they are on offer!
Aldi is approx. 10 years old and would love to spend the rest of his life in a loving home.

FREDERICK, MD! This kid has been waiting for his forever for over a year!

Are you looking for a canine companion to wander your property with you or supervise while you work on your farm? Then meet Mr. Peabody. This 3-year-old terrier mix loves nothing more than long walks full of amazing smells. He experiences the world through his nose and sniffs everything top to bottom. When his nose isn’t working overtime, he also enjoys short play sessions, cozy naps and gentle pets.

Mr. P is a super smart boy with a goofy personality. He figures out puzzle toys, new patterns and routines quickly. Agility equipment is a snap for him too! He recently spent some time at two different training facilities and has the basics under his belt. He knows sit, down, off, trade, wait & free and most importantly Let’s Go…his cue to stop sniffing and move on. He’s not very food motivated but loves peanut butter and our volunteers are expanding his palate of high value treats each day.

Mr. Peabody would do best in a home with some dog experience where he can spend plenty of time outdoors and get consistent training. He likes other dogs, but his doggie communication and social skills are still a work in progress. He’s basically the canine version of Sheldon. (Shout-out to all the Big Bang Theory fans out there!)

Tiger has now been with us for 365 days.

For an entire year, we’ve watched this sweet dog wait for a family to call his own. We’ve come to know his quirks well—like how much he loves treats (and how much he dislikes not getting them) and his aversion to wet paws. As much as our staff and volunteers enjoy seeing his face every day, Tiger should be spending his days being pampered in a loving home.

Here’s what you need to know about Tiger:

🐶 He's a quick learner! He knows sit, stay, paw, down and turn around.
🐶 He's crate-trained and sleeps through the night.
🐶 He prefers shorter walks where he can follow his nose.
🐶 He's very food-motivated and loves to learn.
🐶 He enjoys playtime but often prefers pets and belly rubs.
🐶 He's very low-maintenance.
🐶 He appreciates a slow introduction when he meets new people.

Hello Friends, Tara Here! 🐾

I’m reaching out because I could really use your help in finding my forever home or a loving foster family. I’ve been waiting and hoping, but so far, no one has shown interest, and I just don’t understand why. I’m a friendly, 2-year-old pup with a heart full of love and joy, and I’m ready to share that with the right family!

Here’s a little bit about me:

-I’m a Survivor: I was rescued just in time from something called breed-specific legislation (which sounds super serious and not much fun), and now I’m all about spreading love and happiness.
-I’m Petite but Mighty: At 39 pounds, I may be small, but my heart and spirit are huge! I’m social, tail-wagging, and always excited to meet new friends.
-I’m a Quick Learner: Treats are my jam! I know how to sit, lie down, and I’ll even run right into my crate on command. Fetch is my favorite game—I’ll drop the ball at your feet and be ready for you to throw it again and again!

Playful and Energetic: I’ve got zoomies galore and will keep you smiling with my playful antics. Walks are awesome, and I’m a great leash walker. Plus, I’m fully potty trained and crate trained. I might sing a little when I first go into my crate, but I promise I’ll settle down and sleep through the night like a champ.

Good with Everyone: I get along with other dogs and don’t pay much attention to cats, so I could fit in well with most families.
