It may cause traffic delays.

You may want to allow a little extra time to get to your appointments.

Unfortunately, we have been seeing quite a few cases of canine parvovirus (CPV) infection this winter. CPV is a highly contagious virus that is spread among dogs and other canids, such as coyotes, foxes, and even non-canids like mink. It is an incredibly damaging disease that can easily kill susceptible puppies and dogs.

Primary symptoms of CPV include vomiting, diarrhea (especially with blood), not eating, and lethargy (lack of energy).

We recommend vaccinations for CPV starting at 6 weeks of age for all puppies. The DHPP and DHLPP vaccines cover parvo. If you're not sure if your pet is up-to-date with their DHPP or DHLPP vaccine, please give us a call and we'd be happy to review your pet's chart. If your pet is experiencing parvo-like symptoms, call us as soon as possible to discuss getting your pet seen. REMEMBER - CPV is HIGHLY contagious. If you suspect infection, do not allow your pet to interact with other dogs. Do not allow your pet to walk where other dogs walk or to use the bathroom where other dogs may come into contact with infected f***s.

For more information, please check out the AVMA's detailed article on canine parvovirus here:

Effective January 1st, 2024:

In order to provide the best possible care for our patients, we are implementing the following policy:

Your appointment time is reserved with the doctor; failure to keep this appointment limits our ability to care for other pets in need.

We do not charge a cancellation fee. However, if you fail to keep a reserved appointment time and do not call in advance, you will be required to put a deposit for the cost of the exam for future appointments.

This deposit will be applied to the cost of your visit if the appointment is kept. If the appointment is not cancelled in a timely manner, the deposit will be forfeited, and you will be required to pay another deposit in order to schedule again.

Happy winter! โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Did you know that the seasons are not of equal length because the Earth does not move at a constant speed in its elliptical orbit?

On average, winter lasts for 89.0 days in the Northern Hemisphere and 93.6 days in the Southern Hemisphere.

Need to get your pet in before Christmas? Give us a call! We have openings this week and would be happy to get you in.

Enjoy the holidays safely! ๐ŸŽ„

Salt dough (made of flour, water and salt) is a cheap and easy way to craft during the holidays. Just remember to keep pets away from this dough. As its name suggests, salt dough has a LOT of salt ๐Ÿง‚ in it and can lead to unsteadiness, muscle tremors, and can be fatal for pets. ๐Ÿ’€

If you are looking for a safer alternative, buying clays like air dry clays that have the AP seal, which indicates they are safer, are the way to go. For these doughs, while some tummy upset may still occur if your pet accidently eats it, it should not be potentially fatal.

Our pets are part of our family, and it's only natural for us to want to share our holidays and celebrations with them. However, dogs and cats can't eat the same things we humans can - their digestive systems function a lot differently!

If pets eat the wrong things, they can suffer from gastroenteritis, colitis, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal obstruction, toxicity, and even hemolytic anemia! These are some scary, complex words that we can assure you that you don't want to hear at your post-Thanksgiving vet visit.

If you're concerned about something your pet ate, please give your closest emergency hospital a call, or you can call the Pet Poison Helpline at the number listed below. We are closed this week but will reopen at 8:30 AM on Monday, November 27th.
