Dear valued clients,

We kindly ask for a 24-48 hour advance notice for all medication refill requests. Each prescription requires thorough checking of the pet's medical history, obtaining updated authorization from a Doctor, filling and labeling the prescription, and having it double-checked by two technicians to ensure accuracy. After this, the prescription is packaged up for you to pick up. This process cannot be rushed, so we appreciate your patience and understanding to avoid any delays. Thank you for your cooperation.

Did you know that less than 10% of the pets that are unchipped will return home each year?

A microchip is a secure, reliable, permanent identification for your pet and the process is simple and affordable. Microchipping your pet can help ensure that if your pet goes missing, they can be identified and find their way back to you.

If your pet is chipped, make sure their information is up to date. To help keep pets close to their loved ones, share this post and remind your friends to !

Is your pet scooting or licking their rear? It could be their a**l glands.

A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

Soft, consistent stool, as well as allergies, are common causes of irritation. If your pet is scooting, licking excessively, or showing signs of discomfort around their rear end, contact us! We will help to identify the cause and determine the best course of treatment.

With tomorrow being Hairball Awareness Day, we wanted to remind our cat parents about the importance of preventing hairballs.

Accumulated from excessive grooming, hairballs can build in your cat’s digestive system and either get coughed up or in some cases, need surgical removal.
If your cat is excessively vomiting, lethargic, loses their appetite, or has diarrhea or constipation, these may be signs of a blockage and you should contact our team immediately.

They say it takes a village.
Today a few of our technicians had the opportunity to help some of the dogs rescued from the recent hoarding situation in Pawtucket RI. A huge shout out Dr Leoni and staff at Diamond Hill Animal Clinic for coordinating today's challenge. 15 volunteers were able to examine, sedate, shave down, vaccinate, bathe and heartworm test 15 dogs in 4 hours! Amazing teamwork !
Please refrain from any negative comments about the previous owners, as in many hoarding cases there usually a mental health aspect to it. Let's send these pups positive vibes for a happy and healthy future.
Below is a post from the Friends of Pawtucket shelter listing all of the organizations involved.

Hey Everyone!
We felt you all may like an update on the status and happenings of the pups from the recent hoarding situation. We also wanted to be sure to give a big shout out to the organizations that came together and made an efficient group response to a horrible situation.
We also know assisting in situations like this creates a financial burden, so we’d like to take this opportunity to post the donation links of the organizations involved and pin the post to our page so everyone looking to donate can choose who they’d like to help.
We would also like to give a huge thank you to all those who have donated so far! The response has been incredible!
Firstly, 18 of the dogs will remain with and be adopted out of the Pawtucket Animal Shelter. Huge thank you to Dr. Leoni and Diamond Hill Animal Clinic for sedate groomings for 16 of these dogs, the compassion their is amazing.
Thank you to the Potter League for Animals for not only taking in 10 of the hoarding dogs but 2 of the shelters prior dogs as well to make space.
www.potterleague.org/donate
Thank you to the Providence Animal Rescue League for taking in 6 of the hoarding dogs.
www.parl.org/donate
Thank you to the Cranston Animal Shelter, RI for taking in 2 of the dogs. Couldn’t find a donation page but possibly at Friends of the Cranston Animal Shelter
Thank you to Friends of Homeless Animals, INC of RI for taking in one of our dogs to make room. www.fohari.org/donate
Thank you to the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for taking in 10 of the hoarding dogs as well as assisting in facilitating the removal of the dogs from the home. We should also mention this comes after they took in all those goldens, so every contribution helps.
You can donate on their website at www.rispca.org
Thank you to Friends of Central Falls Animals for all that you do and assisting with every part of it They have great fundraisers and donation links on their page.
And if you would like to donate to us our link can be found on our page!
If you would like to help in other ways, most if not all of these organizations are in need of volunteers and fosters, click on their pages to apply, foster homes can end up being the biggest help
Also a special shout out to a company that has made a helpful donation to be used for all the dogs, to include the ones at the shelter that aren’t from the hoarding situation. I couldn’t find a page to tag them in this but thank you Dragonwolf and Feathers Co!
