With turkey season coming up one of the biggest issues we run into with mounting is improper field care. This causes blood and dirt to get into the feathers which is near impossible to remove once dried and frozen. The best thing you can do if you plan to get a turkey mounted is carry a ziplock bag, 4-5 paper towels, and a roll of tape with you. Immediately after shooting your turkey open his mouth and stuff a paper towel in. Take the remaining towels and wrap them around his head then put your bag over it's head and tape it tight around the neck. 99% of the blood comes from the head and this will eliminate that. Also remember if you plan to mount your turkey take head shots only. A body shot turkey will never groom out good.
