Leahy Windmill LLC

The back story: The original, unheated structure (The Windmill) was built for show by Dr. Leahy in the early 1970s and has long served the family as a camp, overlooking the swimming area of the pond. In October 2001, son John Leahy with a number of helpers re-raised The Barn at a nearby meadowy spot, still overlooking the pond. Though it started as a post-and-beam skeleton (dismantled from its original location in the nearby Village of Lisle), The Barn has gradually evolved into a larger, more year-round space. Now owned and managed by a nine-sibling entity known as the Leahy Windmill LLC, occasional non-family rentals have so far ranged from some substantial weddings (some additional assembly required); to some medium-sized family reunions, class reunions, birthdays, anniversaries, and theme parties; and lastly to some intimate picnics, small-scale gatherings, and maybe even a few workshops. The Barn has also been used as unique overnight lodging for families visiting from out of town.
