This handsome yellow male is Jag. He was my first "heart" dog. Most of all, he was the sire of my all time favorite, Jackson. I have have 3 vials of his semen frozen in Ohio. It depends on what goes on here at my kennel in the next year but I am contemplating using one of those vials in the future! As you can see, he was a one good looking boy!!

Well, as much as we were excited to celebrate Briar's 15th birthday this week, she unfortunately went to the Rainbow Bridge today. Her quality of life deteriorated this week so Rob and Danielle did the humane thing and left her go. It never gets easier. As many dogs as I have had, they all have meant something to me. Some tug at my heart strings more than others and Briar was one of them. Enjoy those softballs that you loved to retrieve. We will see you again soon chocolate girl. You sure were loved by many!!

Today is a special day for a really special dog. Briar is celebrating her 15th birthday. Yes, that is right. "15" Briar came to me as a 7 week old puppy from Cresthill Kennels in Va . A few years into having her, knowing how special she was, Rob,Danielle and the girls decided she needed to live with them. She has spent most of her adulthood as their girl. Briar is my all time favorite chocolate American Field female. She is milk chocolate and her coat is like velvet. She does not fit the term (which I don't agree with) one of those crazy chocolate dogs. She has a wonderful demeanor. The last couple months she has lost her appetite so she has been fed pretty much what Briar wants. We know your time is short, Briar. I still remember bringing you home! My biggest regret I never kept one of your pups! Happy Birthday! You are one special girl!!

Charlee, a Dice/Oakley pup, sure keeps giving me reasons to smile. She is now an official service dog, along with being a star for Chewy. (Passed with score of 95 out of 100) Some people just buy a vest, ID and call their dog a service dog, but Julia spent hours training Charlee to be a perfectly well behaved service dog. Kudos to Charlee and Julia!!

I am a little behind but I know Polo understands! He had birthday on Tuesday. He is 14 years old. I know how much I am blessed to have this teddy bear for this many years. He has been such a joy! From daily hugs and a daily kiss that he expected first thing in the morning. He has produced so many awesome puppies. Hopefully you make it to your 15th birthday in good health. He is a little stiff and has arthritis in his spin. Once he gets moving, he can motor!! Happy Birthday, my sweetest yellow boy!!

UPDATE ON GABBI AND PUPS

Gabbi and pups are doing wonderful. I am still switching 2 pups but now am doing it every 12 hours. Abbi is still enjoying motherhood and Piper is happy just nursing 4 pups all day long. So glad it worked out for Gabbi that these pups were available for her!

Well, Larke Lab Kennels finally has its first commercial star!! Charlee, who I had posted before about getting a call from Chewy to audition, finally was called to do a commercial. Below is Julia's text to me about it. Again this is an Oakley/Dice puppy!

Can I just say how insanely proud💕🤎I am of Charlee. 😇She was amazing - everyone complimented me on her! She’s the whole package. She nailed everything they asked of her, was happy doing it and never showed signs of any stress. She’s super athletic ( which we knew😉), all that swimming has built her stamina so she was able to put in 8 hours! Very obedient with great recall . They hardly put a leash on her when moving her . Every now and then she checked in w me but they were able to get her focus back to them.( I wasn’t allowed to be right there) They were impressed with the fact that she could do all that listening to the trainer. Even well behaved dogs listen only to their owner and have a hard time performing for others. She was great - they never had to use her ‘double’. So the commercial will be all her!

Tonight I am posting a feel good story but it involves Mother Nature at her best too. Yesterday Gabbi surprised us with a single pup. (We didn't think she took and being English she hid it well.) Unfortunately for Gabbi her little black female was born dead. I had a lot of concerns for her mental well being. All of my moms she loves being a mom the most. (caught her in many boxes over the years trying to nurse pups that weren't hers) Last evening and a couple times during the night, she was crying and fussing. I knew she was missing her baby terribly. It just broke my heart! Fortunately Piper decided to have her litter today. When the pups started to arrive, Gabbi was fussing, crying and whining most of the morning. When Piper was done having her litter, and with some professional consultations, I decided to give Gabbi two of Piper's pups. I could just see the gleam in her eyes and she jumped right in the box before I got the pups to her. I laid them down and right away she laid down, pups started to nurse and she was cleaning. I have a happy mother! Piper is happy with the ones she has and is not showing any clue that she missed the two.

This handsome American Field AKC MH (Master Hunter) chocolate male, Dice, is going to be the sire of some black and chocolate puppies ready in late March. Parents have OFA certifications and other DNA genetic certifications too. Awesome pedigrees!! Dice has produced some awesome pups. Whether it be hunting dogs, therapy dogs, dogs that visit schools, nursing homes, veterans hospitals, libraries and even one that will be appearing in Chewy commercials!!

UPDATE: This pup will be celebrating the New Year with her new family!! We are so happy for her and especially her new family! She will have a great home!!

This handsome black male's name is Brutus. (Oakley/Dice) He and his owners decided since they were spending Thanksgiving alone they would share some Brutus joy at UPMC Passavant this morning! Pat said everyone was so pleased. I am so proud!! Thanks Pat for sharing your boy!! Happy Thanksgiving!!

I am bursting with pride and excitement for Julia and Charlee! Julia has been contacted by CHEWY that they have a project they want Charlee in. She doesn't know when she takes her yet. Congrats, Julia for being such an awesome trainer to get Charlee to this level!

Charlee (Dice/Oakley pup) can possibly add "model" to her list of accomplishments and titles. She was recently ask by Chewy to come in for a studio test. Maybe we'll be able to see her in a future Chewy ad or commercial! Side note: The trainer told Julia that they don't get many Labs especially a chocolate that are so well behaved. He loved her, her energy and s***k. Kudos to Julia because she is such a good trainer!!

These Dice/Oakley pups are such special pups! I received this text from Brutus's owners today.

The following is what Pat had to say about him! What a gorgeous black male! Love his head!

It’s official!! Brutus started at UPMC Passavant on Friday. He’ll split his time between cranberry and north hills. He was super great and everyone just loved him. Staff was so thankful for his presence! Unfortunately we can’t take photos due to privacy laws.

This picture is from our dentist where Brutus helps the patients and staff! Everyone comments on his lovely eyes and calm demeanor.
And he still goes to the library once a month so kids can read to him!
He’s such a joy…thank you!!

This ID belongs to a chocolate American Field Lab female named Charlee that lives in Florida. She has been a big hit in numerous places as a therapy dog. She is the daughter of my Oakley and Dice! 🥰🥰

Charlee , from the Dice/Oakley litter has been volunteering at the VA Medical Center 🇺🇸in West Palm Beach, Fl since April. In the short time , she has made quite the name for herself, spreading smiles to the veterans, families and staff. She goes twice a month and she enjoys her visits. 💕
Charlee will also be competing this Friday in Dock Dog in both the long dive and hydrodash!

Just a friendly reminder how important it is that your dogs are vaccinated for Lyme's Disease. I was at the vet's on Thursday morning at 10:00 and they had already had 6 dogs test positive that day. Ticks are suppose to be really bad this year because of the warmer winter we had. I try to get my dogs tested at least once a year for all tick-borne diseases.

The time has finally arrived!! Sunny was taken today to be inseminated with Jackson's s***m!! I can't tell you how excited I am for this breeding. If she takes, the pups will be due around July 17, 2023 and ready September 11, 2023.
If you had told me that you wanted a puppy, please notify me again with the s*x you want. It will be an all yellow litter. Jackson is 3/4 American Field and 1/4 English. Sunny is 100% English. She has a lot of Jackson's traits, thus the reason she was chosen for this breeding. #1 pick male will be mine!! :)
