Some patients just need a little extra love. ๐ This is Krissy, a 4-year-old English Mastiff, getting some love from our Surgery Technician, Erin, following her orthopedic procedure. Krissy saw Dr. Schulz for a stifle arthroscopy and TPLO plate removal. When something seems wrong with a joint (lameness, limping, clicking), arthroscopy provides better visualization and greater opportunities for treatment while being much less invasive than traditional surgery. And Dr. Schulz is one of the top surgeons in the country in arthroscopy! Before Krissy went home to recover, she required extra attention and we were happy to oblige. ๐ฅฐ
Guess who's back!? ๐ Season 5 of The PAWEDcast kicks off this week! New guests, new topics, same ole Dr. Vernaleken & Dr. Renzullo.

Veterinary CT scan. ๐น
Scooby, a 7-year old Shepherd Mix, presented in February for left thoracic (front) limb lameness and radiographs showed evidence of arthritis in the elbow. Our Surgeon Dr. Kristian Ash & his team performed a CT scan shown here and a joint tap for further diagnosis. Scooby did so well through the scan and tap and once we got the results, Dr. Ash created a treatment plan just for him.
We are starting a challenge and invite you to play! Use hashtag #choosemechallenge and post a video of your pet deciding who wins. Heartworms Under the Microscope
Did you know April is Heartworm Awareness Month?
Heartworm is a parasite that is transmitted from mosquitoes to dogs and cats. Heartworm disease causes lasting damage to the heart, lungs, and arteries, and can affect the health and quality of life of dogs long after the parasites are gone. Treatment is expensive and involves several months of medications, injections, and hospitalization days, so prevention is by far the best option. Learn more about heartworm prevention here: http://ow.ly/QYi130ohq6i
Check out this video of four heartworms wriggling around in a blood sample of a dog that tested positive for heartworm at Bulger.
