This handsome hunk šŸ˜ is Lenny. He is a 4 year old pit bull at our local shelter and is a staff favorite. Lenny is neutered, which means he can be adopted out of the area. He is up to date on his vaccines, is microchipped, and does Ok with some dogs, but likely not cats. He has a high prey drive per the shelter staff. He was recently the shelterā€™s dog of the week, and it is beyond me how he hasnā€™t been adopted yet. I mean heā€™s not only a looker but he has personality to boot. Please share him so he can find his happily ever after. He loves going for rides and could be your wingman!

Courtesy post...dad was in an accident and on life support with a grim outlook :(
Lucky & Cruella are still in need of homes. Please share and contact Alissa (443-591-2897) if you can help.

"He loved those dogs more than anything and I just want to try to make sure they donā€™t wind up in a shelter. It is a boy and a girl the boyā€™s name is Lucky and the girl is Cruella. Lucky is not fixed but Cruellais. I believe they are brother and sister and bonded with each other. There was two other dogs that lived with them as well but they have already gone to family members of his.ā€

We donā€™t even know how Snuffy could still wag his tail after being through as much as he has been throughā€¦..no dog deserves this much heartbreakā€¦..Snuffy was returned on Thursday after being adopted last Saturday everyone was so very happy and congratulated him. Unfortunately for Snuffy he had to be returned due to no fault of his own, but neighbors were causing problems for his new family not being able to keep him. This has been Snuffyā€™s third adoption return and he has been in and out of our shelter since December of last year. This is the face of Snuffy we seen after coming back to our shelter for a third time. Snuffy does not understand why he canā€™t be someoneā€™s forever best friend. We understand itā€™s hard taking a dog in that has lived outside, but itā€™s not his faultā€¦ Snuffy is the most sweetest and lovable guy once you give him a chance. Snuffy is a pit/bulldog mix that is around 5yrs old. We are begging each of you to please take time and stop to think how let down Snuffy feels as he canā€™t seem to find a family who can give him the home he so desperately deserves and needs. Snuffy needs you to believe in him as much as I believe in himā¤ļø
Take time in your Saturday to stop by and give Snuffy some love he could use right now. We are open 10-3 tomorrow.

šŸ‘‰Harley will be at HQ around 12 today if you'd like to come meet her.šŸ¾

We are springing this beauty for several hours tomorrow (Tuesday, May 3rd) to give her a break from the shelter and let her meet some friends.

We will be taking Harley to Tractor Supply, Loweā€™s, and hopefully back to our HQ for a bath and some treats.

She has been at BCHS for a little while, with little interest. If youā€™d like to meet her tomorrow while we have her for her day out on the town, shoot us a PM so we can make sure to work that out.

Here is BCHS info about Harley: https://www.facebook.com/341412213016/posts/10158583640278017/?d=n

Name: Coop
Age: 2.5 years
Weight: 76 #
Dog friendly: very dog tolerant on leash. Would need a meet and greet to explore an up close and personal housemate pup.
Cat friendly: Unknown
Kids: can definitely be around kids when out and about on an adventure
House Trained: Yes.
Ideal home environment: Adult only- see description below
Opportunities for improvement: Coop has overcome so many challenges since being surrendered by his family (two adults and a teenager) in Spring of 2021 due to "not enough time"- just 16 months after they brought him into their home- unclear from where. AAHA pulled him from the local shelter so that he could begin his journey to find a forever home. That required healing and training- basic rehabilitation. Coop needed a lot of help at first, but we all saw his great qualities and potential. Those challenges were: slow to trust humans which manifested as a type of resource guarding, fearfulness of tasks such as having a collar placed on him, fear of car rides, and he had difficulty enjoying walking on leash.
To date- his leash walking has hugely improved (almost perfect), his walking gear can be placed on him easily, and there are less and less struggles over wanting objects that are not his. We are able to get him into a vehicle now for fun rides to the park using a crate. He still hesitates to get in on his own. We wonder if the only time he rode in a car was when he was brought to the shelter? :(.
Fun facts: he is physically in great shape for adventures, has always been super loving toward people and animals alike, playful, curious, very affectionate, he would make a great outdoor hiking buddy and would love to explore new places and be your loyal friend!

Email us at [email protected] if you are interested in meeting our boy Coop! šŸ’™

Courtesy post for Cebolla...found tied to pole and riddled with BB pellets :(

4th REQUEST! POOR DEAR "Cebolla" the SWEETEST, Most GENTLE & Trusting & BEAUTIFUL 6 Year Old w/ BEST DISPOSITION! Tied to Pole Full of BB Pellets! BARCS!

- Rescue Needed -

Cebolla- 6+ years, female, 49lbs

Update: Cebolla's Free T4 was low, indicating that she is in fact hypothyroid, so we've started her on a thyroid supplement and she's due for repeat bloodwork in 3-4 weeks to recheck.

6-year old Cebolla's story is a sad one. Tragically, this poor girl was found tied to a pole in an apartment complex, very clearly dumped, left behind, and forgotten about. To make matters worse, once safe at our shelter, it was discovered that she was covered in painful, irritated pressure sores, and rads also revealed multiple BB pellets in her body, as well as evidence of previous fractures.

Once at our shelter, our vets quickly got to work examining and caring for Cebolla. Unfortunately, she has a bit going on, with a heart murmur, dry eye, ear issues, alopecia, and arthritis. Bloodwork revealed some abnormalities so further testing is suggested, on top of continuing supportive care. Thankfully, this girl has had a great appetite- and a great attitude- since she arrived. A full medical summary can be provided upon request.

Clearly this girl has not always had an easy life, and you can tell just by looking at her. It's even apparent that at one point, someone did care for her, as she has pins in one of her legs from a past surgery. We won't ever know her history or why she ended up being abandoned, but we're at least grateful that she's now safe in our care and receiving both the medical attention and love that she's lacked for so long.

We may never be able to make up for everything that's ever happened to Cebolla, but we've promised her that her future will be much brighter than her past. What makes this girl so special is that despite everything she's been through, her personality and demeanor have remained so gentle and soft, willingly trusting everyone she meets (even though she has every right not to want to). We would love to see this girl off to rescue where she can get the continued care and attention she needs.

Cebolla is available immediately for rescue pick-up.

Please let us know if your organization can help!

Thank you,

Meet Celeste. She is around 2 years old. Celeste is a short girl that weighs around 45 pounds. She came to us after being left in the outside kennels without a note. No owner ever called for her. So we are having to start fresh with information. What we do know is she is the happiest girl. Her tail is always wagging and her ears are always up. Sheā€™s a super clean girl. We do not know how she is with other animals.

If you would like to meet Celeste please message for an appointment.

Courtesy post for Junior at BARCS looking for foster or adopter
Even the comfiest bed makes you sad if you live in a shelter like Junior has for months now šŸ’” Please share him to help this cutie catch a break

Sweet Junior is still waiting at BARCS in Baltimore, MD for a loving human to come and adopt/rescue or foster him. He basically needs a great loving home where he will be treated like the wonderful boy he is! He doesn't have more than a lot of love and kisses to give, but that he has a plenty and that should go a long way!
He is 6.5 years old but don't let his age fool you- Junior still enjoys going for walks, playing tug, trotting around in a fenced yard, and getting treats. He allows staff to dress him up while giving kisses the whole time

Coop has been with us for 6 long months. Who will give this pup a loving foster or forever home without little humans?

Dear diary, Your buddy Coop here. I hope 2022 will be MY year to find a forever home.
I am just a young lad and had lived my life with my family for 16 months before they decided to surrender me to a shelter in May of this year. I was in danger of being euthanized there but thankfully my friends at AAHA had an open spot at the kennel and decided to save me. Boy, am I thankful to them! Anyway, itā€™s been a few months now and sadly I have not gotten much interest from adopters. What am I doing wrong? I know my looks are confusing. I donā€™t look husky enough for husky lovers but also not pittie enough to draw attention from the bully crowd. So somehow I am stuck in the middle and donā€™t quite know where I fit I have a lot of friends here at the kennel but the days are long and the nights are lonely when you see your other friends come and go. Of course I am happy for them. They all deserve the best and the loving homes that they find but it leaves me wondering if my perfect home is out there? I would love to spend the holidays in a foster or forever home. I hope someone gives me a chance soon. I am not even 2 years old and weigh 76 pounds. My friends here at AAHA say that I bond to my people quickly. Sometimes I am a bit anxious in new situations and need encouragement from my friends that everything will be ok. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE when the walkers come by every day because I know it means I get my walkie and I LOVE my leash walks and yard time tremendously! I did not live with a dog in my prior home but show dog friendliness so a furry sibling is an option. My perfect home would have a fenced yard and no little human children as their sudden movements would probably scare me. I am super duper smart and pick up basic commands well. I pass my time here at the kennel with puzzles and Miss Marianneā€™s famous chicken. Boy, do I love that yummy stuff My friends say I have responded well to training. I promise I will be loyal to whoever gives me my furever home. Would you please give me a chance to show what a good boy I am? Pretty please???

Passion is a white and brown female Pitbull (Staffordshire Bull Terrier) mix. She is approximately 2 years old. She weighs about 41.2 lbs.. She has not been spayed. Passion is Deaf but does not let that stop her! She is a huge snuggle-bug, her favorite place is right in your lap. Passion already knows the hand signal for sit and would benefit from further obedience training. This shouldn't be hard for Passion as she's very treat and toy motivated. Training a deaf dog is not very much different than a hearing dog! Passion lived with another dog and seems to do great with other companions in the shelter. If you and your family are interested in meeting Passion, send an email to schedule an appointment.

ā™„ļøPET OF THE MONTHā™„ļø

Buddyā€™s story:

Buddy came to the shelter as a stray about 2 years ago, and weā€™re not quite sure why he hasnā€™t been adopted yet. Heā€™s such a goofy big boy! Buddy loves playing outside. He knows some basic obedience and has gotten much better at not jumping up and nipping since heā€™s been here (he didnā€™t know his size and thought he was still a puppy). Buddys New Years resolution is to find a home in 2022! Please call today to meet sweet Buddy!
