Located in Winston, A Little Bit of Heaven Equestrian is available for lessons and horse training! My name is Jessica Goza and I was fortunate enough to get into the life of horses from a very young age. After competing in gymkhana as a child, followed by endurance riding, I fell in love with the world of hunter/jumpers in junior high. All of this while my main mount was a feisty little horse, ful

l of energy and grit and known as "Tashe", who competed under the name of "A Little Bit of Heaven." That is where we get our name for our facility and the name we have proudly displayed on our team gear- with a likeness of him on them. He was by my side for just over 27 years before we lost him, at the age of 35, in August 2021. In those 27 years he taught myself and countless children and adults how to ride. He will forever be the foundation to our riding facility and I am forever grateful for him and all he gave me. Now with 17 years of experience in teaching all things horsemanship and over 20 years experience training horses, we have a special focus on hunter/jumper and eventing but teach all ages, experience levels and both english and western riding. We offer private and group lessons, different horse camps, clinics and special barn outings (including cross country schooling and beach rides). A fun environment where the horses' happiness and comfort are top priority. Bring your own horse or use one of our fabulous lesson horses! I cannot wait to meet you and help you achieve your equestrian goals!

This young lady has absolutely BLOSSOMED as a rider and all around horsewoman lately and I am so incredibly proud of her! Yesterday Cambria went over her first jump and was quick to thank her mount for helping her with that achievement. 🤍🩵

This is one of the cutest visions ever: Jiffy (and in this case, Moxie too- because she’s an attention hog) coming in when she sees one of her all time favorite girls! ❤️

I have had these conversations with countless students through the years. “A perfectionist mindset and a lack of an ability to accept mistakes will do much more harm than good for an athlete’s mental performance. Mistakes are a normal part of sport and life.”

9 Facts About Perfectionism: A mindset that must be unlearned or will ultimately bring your riding down 🧠

1. Every rider makes mistakes, even the best of the best.
It’s an unavoidable, universal experience and all a part of the sport.

2. Mistakes are learning opportunities.
You can grow from them and become better because of them.

3. Hyper-focusing on mistakes helps them happen.
They both become a self-fulfilling prophecy and take your focus away from your ride.

4. Mistakes mean you’re on the right track.
You can’t improve, learn, overcome challenges, and level up without them.

5. It’s not what happened but how you move forward from it that matters the most.
Moving on from the mistake matters more than the mistake itself.

6. Mistakes are temporary.
Work to fix and put them in the past instead of dwelling and allowing them to stick around.

7. Mistakes don’t define you.
You may have had a bad ride, but that doesn’t mean you’re a bad rider.

8. Social media only shows highlights.
Everyone is struggling whether they post about it or not.

9. Perfect doesn’t exist.
It’s impossible to meet unattainable expectations.

A perfectionist mindset and a lack of an ability to accept mistakes will do much more harm than good for an athlete’s mental performance. Mistakes are a normal part of sport and life. Everyone makes mistakes no matter how talented of an athlete they may be. Since perfect doesn’t exist, holding yourself to an unrealistic standard will only set you up for disappointment every ride. Instead, give yourself permission to make mistakes, using them to your advantage by viewing them as valuable feedback and learning opportunities. Refer to this post whenever you begin to feel hard on yourself, and remember that you are not alone! 🏇🏽💭✨

Yesterday this youngster spent a long day at kindergarten before arriving to her lesson- and absolutely insisted that she clean her lesson horse’s hooves all by herself! And her highlight at the end of her lesson? That she got to clean up manure that the same horse provided while tacking up…. She was so proud of herself! Parents, realize that when you pay for a riding lesson, your child is acquiring so much more than learning how to ride; they develop strength and coordination. They develop a sense of pride and confidence in themselves. They learn how to non verbally communicate with another being, one much bigger and stronger than they are. They learn to get their hands dirty, work hard and how to be responsible, caring and thorough. Life-long skills that they will use for the rest of their lives. This same little girl, although tired and hungry at the end of her lesson, was climbing into the car the leave when she realized she did not say goodbye to her horse- and immediately went over to give him a kiss on the nose. And that folks, is one of the reasons we riding coaches do what we do. ❤️

Dearest Riders,

Please let me remind you of something very important. Horse showing, riding and training are insanely difficult. If you have a crappy ride, a less than stellar show ring result (or if you made your trainer want to pull their hair out today), it just means there's more to learn. The people who had good rides today are not exempt from disappointing rides tomorrow. They also have bad days and, if they're very experienced riders, they've had a whole bunch of bad days.

There will always be someone out there on a more talented horse, someone with a bigger bank account, someone who never struggled to learn to sit the trot...life isn't fair. You probably can't win the lottery or grow 5 more inches of leg. You can, however, wake up every morning and be thankful that you're able to ride horses. Work hard at becoming the best rider you can be with the body and the bank account that you have right now. Work at being the rider your horse wants up there on his back. Your horse's opinion of your riding is more valuable than any judge's opinion could ever be.

What a fun day! Thank you to our competitors and volunteers that made today’s Barn Show a success! The smoke was definitely a factor as it caused a late start and had us ending early. But what a fun filled few hours! The horses were turned out beautifully, my riders rode amazing and the smiles made my day. ❤️

Fall vibin’! 🍁 And the course is set for our Barn Show tomorrow! Hoping we are blessed with smokeless skies.

Everyone! I just found out from his family that it is this sweet boy’s birthday today! 🩵 🎉 His family has requested he gets extra loves and attention today and I am happy to oblige! (And he will definitely get an extra apple! 🍎 ) Happy Birthday Rocko! I believe he is 27 today (correct me if I am wrong, Erika) and is still looking so handsome! 💙

Our Story

My name is Jessica Goza and horses are my passion! I was very fortunate to have horses in my life at a young age when my parents had bought two horses, a feisty paint pony and an appropriately named POA named Sassy. Sadly, Sassy taught me early on what loss feels like and we had to put her down after less than two years from cancer. I then took over that feisty paint pony and we started with competing in gymkhana, then we successfully competed in endurance riding (if you wonder how we started in that sport— my dad hopped on his four wheeler one Saturday and joined me on a usual weekend “trail ride” and found that I covered 32 miles for the fun of it), before entering the wonderful world of hunter/jumper. At only 14.1 hands, he proved you do not need a huge horse to be competitive! He showed under the name A Little Bit of Heaven and we successfully competed in Oregon and California where I also started professionally riding within the discipline. Finding an honest instructor with integrity and a love for teaching the sport was not always easy and I swore one day I would help fill that void. I started A Little Bit Of Heaven Equestrian (yes, inspired by the little horse who could show name 💙) when I moved to Wyoming and found that many of those competing in rodeo events wanted to try something a little different and ultimately taught both western and English 7 days a week and about 355 days a year! If any of you have spent much time in Wyoming you know how brutal the winters can be (and summer if the wind blows like it usually does!) and I really wanted to move back to Oregon. But Idaho called us. And so here we are, in Emmett and loving it! There’s a decent amount of schooling shows for my students, four full seasons and endless trail riding opportunities! I continue to instruct year round (we have access to an indoor for those nasty days) with clinics and horse camps starting every year in March. I love what I do and would love to help you fulfill your equestrian dreams!
