Adoptions are so slow these days…puppies are flying out the door like hotcakes but our adult dogs are just waiting and waiting 🥺 Please consider giving an adult dog a chance — in most ways they are SO much more chill and easy than a young puppy!

For example, we have Gloria. This bodacious mini house hippo is a mature, older lady with manners. She appears to be potty-trained based on how clean she keeps her kennel. She is classified as one of our easiest and beginner-friendly dogs to handle.

Gloria will be at this Saturday, December 14 starting at 3pm for our next adoption event in Davis! Drop by and say hello…and maybe fall in love and take her home with you 🥹

Brissa was just a puppy the first time she ended up at our shelter. Then she got adopted and we figured she’ll be fine since she’s such an easygoing friendly pup who gets along with dogs and people (including kids)!

So imagine our surprise when she ended up back at our shelter as a stray 😭 She was officially surrendered due to no fault of her own and she’s on the lookout for a forever home again. Brissa will be at our adoption event this Saturday at Super Owl Brewing in Davis from 3-5pm (or until she’s adopted!).

This floof is a little over a year old, potty trained, SUPER easy to walk, great in the car, and overall a wonderful dog. 10/10 recommend!

: Macy was just skin and bones when she arrived at our shelter, weighing just 20 lbs. Our lead veterinarian took her home to foster and nurse her back to health — check out the incredible transformation! She is now a healthy 40 lbs (literally double her original weight), knows basic commands, and is both potty- and crate-trained!

Macy is a wonderful young pup who is now ready to find a forever home! She gets along with most dogs and loves people (we do not know how she is with cats). Email [email protected] to schedule a meet and greet in Woodland, CA.

Carrot was returned to us due to incompatibility with cats in the home — which means this GORGEOUS STUNNING UNIQUE tan point merle pittie boy is looking for a forever home for a second time. This guy is super smart, quick to learn new commands, and is potty trained.

He’s athletic and fun to walk but also such a sweet, smooshy snuggle buddy. We think his ideal home would be as an only pet or with a very chill medium-large dog. If you have a dog and want to check compatibility, you can bring your dog to the shelter to do a safe dog intro!

Carrot can be shy with new people but once he knows you’re chill, he will be all up in your business for cuddles 🥰

He is estimated to be 3 years old and weighs 68 lbs. Schedule a meet and greet online at yoloshelter.org!

Maximus is one of those really really ridiculously good-looking dogs but his personality is super down-to-earth and goofy. He’s absolutely clueless on a leash but enjoys it anyway 😂 Maximus is gentle when taking treats, appears to be potty-trained, and is an overall friendly pup.

Maximus is approximately 2-3 years old and weighs 57 lbs. Email [email protected] to meet him!

The health and welfare of animals is at the core of our shelter’s mission. This , consider making a gift to our shelter so that we can continue to provide crucial veterinary care for our shelter animals.

Marge originally came to us with a mouth full of rotting teeth, mammary tumors, and nasal fistula. Our veterinary team took great care of her and she got to spend her post-op recovery in foster with one of our experienced volunteers. She eventually was adopted into a forever home. With your support, dogs like Marge can get a whole new lease on life!

Leaf didn’t find a home for the Thanksgiving holidays…but he still has time to score one before the Christmas holidays🤞🏼

This young husky mix is smart, gloriously floofy, and gentle. He hasn’t been with us for very long and we hope it stays that way. And before everyone asks, we do not know how he is with dogs, cats, or kids but he seems to have potential to be ok with dogs and kids given how easygoing he seems, and with cats as long as you follow proper slow intro protocols.

If you’d like to meet him, schedule an appointment at yoloshelter.org

Mr. Bean really hoped someone would come adopt him after his promo last week…but he’s still waiting at the shelter 😭 This older German Shepherd gentleman is a whopping 128 lbs and could use some help slimming down…he’d make the PERFECT accountability buddy to get a head start on your 2025 fitness goals!

He’s easy to walk on leash, knows several commands (including “paw”), is obviously very food-motivated, and is an overall sweetheart. He’d love to be in a forever home for the holidays 🙏🏻

Tomorrow is your last chance to adopt before we are closed for Thanksgiving holiday 🦃 Email us at [email protected] to meet our dogs tomorrow.

P.S. His lady friend Mami is decompressing in an experienced foster home. She is showing some fear of men and is working hard on building up her confidence so that she could be set up for success in a forever home.
