Alertβ οΈLong but, helpful.
First beware of scammers!!! Many out there offering cheap puppies!! pushing the sale of puppies by attaching links to people's comments looking for a puppy. Be wary!
Secondly:
I think it important to educate yourself about finding the right puppy for your family. Do some fact based research to find what's best for your family. Don't rely on guilted social pushing to take on a new four-legged family member without making sure you take your time confirming the best fit for your family.
Whether it's is a lower priced rescue, in great need of a committed forever home. If your lucky and take your time confirming the rescues needs, they may be well trained, have a great temperament and a good health history behind them. Or you maybe 100% ready to take on a dog in need that possibly has been given up because of questionable health history, temperament and behavior issues from a previous home that was ill equipped to have a dog. Don't let the homeless babies down again! Be sure you can be a forever home for them.
Or if you know you prefer to purchase your new family member. Be sure your financially ready to commit to a much more costly (if raised properly) professionally raised puppy. This is always the best chance of a puppy having excellent health, temperament, lifetime of support from a professional breeder who has vast knowledge of raising and training dogs, who interviews and carefully selects a forever home for their babies and will take them back if their new family fails them!
I wholeheartedly agree!!!! BE CAREFUL AND SELECTIVE! Do your research, save your money! Don't bargain price shop!! If it's looks to good to be true, especially people offering puppies priced lower than the rate reputable breeders are asking, It most likely is to good to be true.
Be wary, of the breeder that is really eager to sell, offers no references, especially Veterinarian reference and especially if they are not open to a visit. If we want to help reduce the number of dogs in rescue don't help support the purchase of cheaply produced puppies! Support reputable breeders that want a chance to get to know you. Good breeder won't sell you a puppy unless they get a chance to get to know you better. They will welcome you to visit and meet them and their adults and puppies, offer vast knowledge about the breed, has many years of work and experience with dogs, willing to speak with you directly, works closely with a Veterinarian preferably a reproductive specialist and can use them as a reference, you will pay more for properly bred quality puppies, so prepare in advance. Vet cost and proper nutrition have increased dramatically over the last 3 years. And at times you may have to be patient for a pup to come available. Don't look for cheap babies!! If you want a good experience finding a puppy, you should expect to pay a higher amount, because you want the breeder to have put as much money and professional knowledge garnered over many years of experience and paid a pretty penny themselves to maintain healthy bloodlines to incorporate into their programs and into raising their puppies, which includes paying much more for Veterinarian care and check ups, especially if the breeder uses a reproductive specialist to help ensure the best possible health for both parents and pups, they use only top quality bloodlines with many known generations of healthy dogs, and knowledge of proper nutrition and supplements in raising their adults and puppies. And lastly most reputable breeders offer a health coverage with their puppies, a lifetime of support and expect a puppy to be returned to them if the purchaser decides to give them up so they don't go into a shelter.
Purchasing from a reputable breeder isn't for everyone! And that's good and necessary for future dog owners to stop supporting poor breeding practices.
If you can't afford to pay for a properly raised puppy. Do your part and rescue a puppy or the many more older dogs that are homeless and in need π₯° Most dogs in rescues and shelters are there because of their owners giving up on them! Most of these owners purchased poorly raised puppies, that don't have a contract that clearly stipulates puppy must be returned to the breeder and never placed in a shelter or rescue. And most likely didn't have any expectations of them at the time of purchase. There are many reasons a dog owners gives up their dog, whether it be they can't afford them, can't train them, don't have the time, don't have a professional breeder to work with to help them with training and raising issues. None the less it is a fact, there are many dog owners who fail there sweet undeserving four legged family members. Finding awesome owners is a challenge for both rescues/shelters and reputable breeders π
Reputable breeders have no trouble taking their time finding qualified homes for their babies and don't worry about holding onto their pups until the right home that can afford them and are committed to raise them is found β₯οΈ Rescues and shelters don't have such luxury and often have to make terrible decisions about the the future of a dog's life.
Often the reputable breeders are the ones most committed to making sure each one of their babies has the best chance of having a forever home the first time and happily keeps them until that perfect home is found.
