Are these Rio's most pampered competitors? Meet the Olympic horses

All eyes may be on their riders, but Rio's pampered horses know exactly who star of the show is. No expense is spared on ensuring they are at their best the second they set hoof in the ring.

Interesting who ready to give it a try

What are you though on this:
Horse owner paints her stallion to look like a zebra to ward off hungry horseflies. The non-toxic cattle-paint is in fact a ruse to prevent horseflies from biting the horse. She came up with the trick after learning that zebras never get bitten. Scientists have found black and white stripes are unappetizing to horseflies. Horseflies hate how stripes reflect light and prefer 'flat' light of dark coats. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/…/Horse-owner-paints-stallion-re…

Horse show hack: To keep dirt from sticking to the top and the inside of hoofs, spray WD-40 on them. The dirt just slides right off.

Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue, INC

Bot eggs come from a fly that hovers all around your horse laying them and looks sort of like a bee. Bot flies are not found in all areas but their eggs are very noticeable on horses who live where they are. There are many methods out there to remove them from your horse. Bot scrapers, Bot blocks, cheap disposable razors (this one has been useful where I live), cat flea combs, Bot combs, etc. If your horse ingests the eggs (and they almost always do) they can cause mouth sores and gastrointestinal ulcers. Deworming with Ivermectin after the first hard frost in your area is usually recommended. For more information click on this link.

Wonder how true this is

Interesting posted by Chuck Nifong who shared Beadle Lake Large Animal Clinic's status....Many of people have ask over the years .... What does the Swirl mean, well here you go. My Grandfather taught me this many years ago and I have found it to be TRUE *~_CN_~*
Swirlology 101- (whorl patterns). Have you ever wondered what the whorl pattern on your horse's forehead means. Some old timers have said it can be the gateway to the soul. See if you agree.

A swirl located between the eyes indicates an easy going, uncomplicated horse.

Swirls higher on the forehead indicate intelligence and a more reactive nature.

Long swirls, especially those that extend below the eye indicate a friendly and agreeable nature.

Multiple swirls can indicate multiple personalities. High and tight side by side swirls can mean a horse that is super focused and talented, but challenging and difficult in the wrong hands.

2 swirls on top of each other can mean extreme personality swings and unpredictability.

Multiple swirls that form a Z pattern can signal a horse that is dangerous and violent.

The direction that the whorl turns can tell you if the horse is right or left "handed" (or hoofed) . If the whorl flows counterclockwise it is left "handed". If the whorl flows clockwise it is right "handed". Tell us any other wives tales you have heard about whorl patterns.

I will be floating around all day tomorrow if anyone wants to get their horses massaged. $45 special for tomorrow only.
