Olive is home from her pedicure!!!! She had to be put under for her procedure so she was a bit groggy. She’s a little tender footed but she has some pain meds to help.
She was happy to see her life long friend Digger, and Digger was happy as well.
If you are able to help at all with her veterinary visit any assistance is greatly appreciated!!

UPDATE on Olive
Her appointment had to be moved to Monday. She will have to be sedated to give her feet the pedicure this gal deserves. This requires a fast and she had eaten this morning. The great thing is she was up on her feet today and actually let me rub her tummy and do a good exam on the sore leg/foot at the same time. Keep the prayers coming and thank you so much for donating and sharing the post.

Poor Olive is taking a trip to the vet tomorrow. Her feet need serious attention and she’s not having it. She is sore and they will treat and get her comfortable. We are looking for donations to cover some of the cost. You can contribute to the veterinarian directly if desired

This evening on this episode of “Meet the Pig” we are featuring Miss Syra! Talk about personality! Syra came to us due to her mom not being able to find a place where she could keep her pig. We are hoping and praying for this mom that someday whether it be a month or a year or two that she will be reunited with her baby. In the meantime she is here with us and mom can come visit.
Syra is chatty and amiable. She is not a fan of the other pigs quite yet but for some it takes longer than others. In the meantime we give her extra attention so she doesn’t get lonely.

So Julep, Rain, Pansy and Jazz are back from their spay appointment. A bit traumatized but eating, pooping and peeing so all good signs!!

Four of these littles went in to get spayed this morning. Prayers for no complications and rapid healing appreciated. Any donations toward their surgery also much appreciated. Unfortunately there is no such thing as low cost pig altering. These girls as well as their brothers will also be looking for loving FOREVER homes 🙏🏻🐷♥️

Yesterday I was in with Syra cleaning eyes and giving her snuggles. Digger who is her next-door neighbor was a little jealous so I had to go give her some snuggles as well.

In tonight’s episode of meet the pig we will be hearing about Miss Penny Penelope. Penny came to stay with us due to zoning issues.
It’s too bad more cities don’t realize how pigs are clean and excellent family pets
We are hoping she will be a temporary stay until her mom can get a different living situation for her and the fam.
Penny is a spunky ball of fire. She loves zoomies and grazing in the yard. She gets along great with the young piggies but she thinks she is the boss even though she is one of the smallest pigs here. Therefore she gets her outside time in the main yard like the queen she thinks she is 🤣

Nadia moved outside yesterday! No more barn pen for her. She wants her dinner and she wants it now!!

Digger and Olive got settled in last night, had some mash for dinner, snuggled in their new houses, and hopefully had sweet dreams. This morning it was cool so they had warm mash and got to meet some of the other piggies through the fence!

So yesterday we had two elder pigs join us who’s previous owner was unable to care for them any longer. They came from several hours away transported by “Operation Lola” a non profit that moves pigs from danger to safety. The woman who runs the organization also has a coffee business. How cool is this packaging!!! Please help support our partners and say hello to Olive and Digger!

Hey everybody!!! New arrivals at Salt & Light today! Meet Digger and Olive, they were needing immediate help when Maggie’s Emergency Placement stepped in and contacted us.
Maggie’s Transpo arranged transport with Operation Lola who delivered them today. These two elders are now safe and we will keep you updated. Both are available to sponsor.
A special thank you to my husband Mark, who whipped up houses and pens today to accommodate these two gals.

Let’s play meet the pig! This girl is Arleen. She came to all the way from New Mexico. She has a very loving mom and we are hopefully just doing a long term foster for Arleen. If not she has a great home here. Arleen is friendly but selective, she loves cats but not so much dogs. Her favorite treat is a head of romaine lettuce. She has quite the personality and she will sulk if she isn’t the center of attention.
Arleen has adapted great with the other pigs. She doesn’t have a hang with buddy yet but she seems fond of Buster the farm pig. She is open for sponsorship so if you are interested in sponsoring Arleen please let us know.

Nadia got to spend some time out on the green grass with some of the other youngsters today. I think she loved it! She is healing nicely and putting weight on her leg more!

So in addition to the pigs, we have taken in five homeless dogs from the town where I work and we are fostering one from the shelter where my husband works. All special needs cases. Meet Red, Blondie, Rusty, JoJo, Adi and Buster!!

Nadia had a visit at the clinic today. She was running a fever. They cleaned up her wound and she had some antibiotics, a tetanus shot. Was dewormed and given some pain meds. Big thank you to Victoria Veterinary Clinic for getting us in on short notice and doing such a great job!! Any help in covering Nadia’s clinic costs is greatly appreciated!

Meet Buster! Buster was an FFA pig that skipped the truck. He is one of our two full size farm pigs. He and Junebug hit it off pig time. They are both Spots and their first introduction should have been got on camera because they both were instantly infatuated.
Junebug was also an FFA pig and has been with us 5 years.

We have decided to name this sweet soul Nadia. She will be making g a trip to the clinic this morning for an assessment of her wounds. She is skittish but friendly
