In honor of Piggy Sue, aka A Boy Samed Sue, aka Sumo our resident pot belly pig this song was written and created by Ed Hansford and his wife Kelli. Accompanying Ed on the guitar and Kelli videoing are their precious grandchildren. A little history, shortly after we rescued Piggy Sue, he found a way to escape. After a panic call for help, Ed and Kelli came to my rescue and together we managed to get him back home, needless to say it was quite the adventure! For those who don't know Piggy Sue's story, when we rescued him he had been terribly abuse with his ears freshly cut off. At that time, he was rightfully mad at humans and very afraid. Today Piggy Sue’s tail is always wagging and he is one of the first to come up and greet you. He may be earless and hard of hearing, but he is one happy pig who gives so much love and laughter to everyone who meets him.
Piggy Sue is such a wonderful example of "second chances" and forgiveness.
Thank you Ed, Kelli and your precious grandkids for the happy tears this song you so brilliantly created after that day Piggy Sue ran away gave us and for allowing us to share! We love you and your super adorable grandchildren.

Our 2 most recent canine additions to HCRR (Trip & Luv) have bonded. All six dogs are one happy family.
UPDATE on "Luv", the sweet love we found yesterday on CR 96. Two wonderful vets ran tests and gave us some very upsetting news this morning. They feel certain upon exam she has distemper or post distemper, which is causing her neurological issues and laboring breathing.
One recommend euthanasia today the other discussed with us if we are willing to take the chance, take her home, keep her quarantined and wait for test results. We decided we can't give up sweet "Luv", we felt better bringing her home and giving her all the love and care she deserves. Certain this is the first home she has ever been in, we have never witnessed a dog sleep as long and hard as she did last night Sweet Luv, we had to wake her up to take her to the vet! Test results should be back by Wednesday. Sure hope our very kind compassionate vets are wrong!! As of now she is safe warm, loved, happy and napping, on a full tummy inside. I think we need to a nap too 🙂! Emotionally exausted.
We are so blessed to have one of the worlds best shelters in Espanola, who spay, neuter, chip and vaccine for free if you live in Rio Arriba County! What a wonderful program! Please know if your dog, cat, horse, donkey is sick and you can't care for him/her, reach out to us, we will help make certain they receive the care they need and deserve, no questions asked.
More on this sweet girl, hopefully it's nothing serious but we should know tomorrow.
She is safe, fed, loved and sleeping like a baby now. Strange breathing and head bobbing, breaks our heart.
Big day yesterday, teaching Povi at 7 months how to load on a trailer! Understanding it takes human eyes 30 to 60 SECONDS to adjust to rapid light change, it can take a horse 15 to 30 MINUTES. From what we have learned, a horse looking into a trailer is like rapid light change, to them they are looking into a black box when loading, which can be very scarey.
Povi is so trusting and did great! She loaded right up and did not show any fear. Also realizing Povi has never done any steps, a simple step up and down into the trailer was another big first. Can you tell we are quite proud!?! Thank you to our dear friends Ed and Kelli for your support, appreciate you capturing Povi's first, and the homemade horse treats loved by all!

We don't get away much from Horseshoe Canyon Rescue Ranch- Youngsville NM but when we do, we trust all 23 to the wonderful love and care of Jan West. Thank you, Jan, for the recent escape to visit friends and family and for capturing this video of everyone going out to play and pasture. GRATEFUL!!!
