Weaning calves early can be a tough decision. Whether for cash flow, forage management or other reasons, there can be benefits to implementing early weaning strategies.

It allows you to feed when calves are extremely efficient. Early weaning is also a beneficial management strategy when the cows body condition score falls below a 5, which causes less grazing pressure and provides more forage resources for the cow.
