The ocean is often called Earth’s life support, it holds 97% of the world’s water, regulates our climate, absorbs CO₂, and provides the main source of protein for over a billion people! Yet it’s facing huge challenges, around 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic now float in our seas, that’s roughly 46,000 pieces per square mile, weighing up to 269,000 tonnes. Even more shocking, 88% of the ocean’s surface is polluted by plastic waste. It’s wild to imagine, isn’t it?
