“The summit is what drives us, but the climb itself is what matters.”

Reaching the summit.. watch as the landscape unfolds in all directions, the folds of the land like a rug of earth, a reminder of nature’s vastness and beauty. (And if you’re lucky) not a soul in sight 🙏

The sense of achievement, accompanied by a quiet reflection of the journey it took to get there.

Standing at the peak, you realise it’s not just about the view, but the climb itself ⛰️

Last year, throughout October, we invited you to join us in exploring the woods, cities, and hills in search of the magical wonders of fungi. It wasn’t a competition as such, but rather a way to inspire our mushroom-loving community to get outdoors and capture photos of your incredible discoveries with some wonderful rewards for those who featured in the final zine - with profits being donated to charity.

Thanks to your enthusiastic participation, it was a tremendous success! We’re truly grateful for the wonderful feedback on the zine, and most of all, for the opportunity to admire your fantastic photos.

Now, we’re excited to invite you once again to be part of the second edition of ffwng, our pocket-sized zine that celebrates all things mushroom! There are still some final details to iron out but we’ll be telling you more over the coming weeks plus some exciting goods up for grabs.

Please share this post with your friends and start spreading this ffwngtastic news! 🙌

🍄 Volume 1 of ‘ffwng’ is available to purchase in our store now 🍄

We’ve woken up to a very drizzly Wales this morning, and after getting caught in a thunderstorm up a mountain last night (you may have seen our stories) we’re having a cosy day.

Whilst we wait for the rain to slow Lola will be chilling in HQ assisting us with orders along with a wholesale order for an exciting new stockist and we’ll be playing around with colour options for our new traffic handle lead which we know you’re super excited about (we can’t believe how many messages we got) and finishing off the return of something exciting which we’ll be posting later today 👀

Check back with us later… we know you’re going to love it 🍄

What are your plans today? Braving the storms or staying cosy?

Happy Friday! What better way to celebrate the end of the workweek (for some 😢) than with a brand new dog lead made from recycled climbing rope! Introducing Chirk, featuring a beautiful green pattern design and our sturdy 12kN locking carabiner for added safety. This particular rope came from a thoughtful climber who wanted to give his old gear a new life, and we were absolutely delighted to help. We’re always on the lookout for retired climbing ropes, and it’s especially rewarding when people share our commitment to repurposing and sustainability. A big thank you to Nick for making it happen! 🙌

Join us as we explore the special features that make our treat pouch truly unique! You might be wondering, “Can they really say that?” and our answer is simple “We made it to include everything we’d want and need for our walks with our collie Lola, so for us, it really does tick all the boxes!” 🙌

Every detail of our treat pouch is designed with dog walks and training sessions in mind, we never leave home without it. From extra pockets for tasty treats to a special spot for your whistle, each feature was tested on our own walks to make things easier for you. Although we advise against machine washing, the pouch can be easily cleaned with some soapy water and gentle rub with the sponge - remember, they are all handcrafted but if looked after they’ll last a long time, we still have our very first prototype which continues to be used today. Having a free hand to handle distractions was a top priority in its design, and being so lightweight you won’t be weighed down on the trail.

Note: Sections highlighted in gold are just for show. We’re not making 22k gold pouches... YET! 🤣

On slow Sundays, there’s a special joy in taking time to rest and reset. It’s a day to step away from the rush of the week, unwind, and savor the simple moments—especially those spent with our dogs. Whether it’s a long walk, a nap on the couch, or simply enjoying their company, these quiet moments remind us of the importance of slowing down and being present. Here’s to a restful Sunday, shared with our best friends 🐾

Saturdays are for trig bagging!

Fun fact: To quote from a page at the OS site: “Like an iceberg, there is more of trig pillar below the surface than above it.”

Another fun fact: The highest trig pillar sits on the top of Ben Nevis. The lowest trig pillar is at Little Ouse, sited at -1m

Yet another fun fact: On the top a brass plate with three arms and a central depression is fixed, known as a “spider”: it is used to mount and centre a theodolite used to take angular measurements to neighbouring trig points.

Every days a school day right!

As the mornings become a little chillier, going out for your early dog walk can feel a tad refreshing! But fear not, we have just restocked our wildbarc beanies and they’re ready to keep you warm while you and your furry friend enjoy the fresh air. Whether you like the cosy feel of our Harbour beanie, with its thick knit, or the Explorer beanie, which gives extra coverage over your ears to block the wind, we’ve got you covered! Both beanies are made to keep you warm and stylish, so you can stay comfy without losing your woodland cred 😂

At Wildbarc we love colour and we love patterns and most of all we love that you love it too! We love how experimental you are. Seeing your dog gear combinations, pairing different styles of jacquard, mixing with recycled rope or pairing with our canvas.

Unleashing your personality through your choices through the kit you create is a highlight for us! Life’s too short for dull colours! Be bright, be bold and have fun 🙌

Sometimes all we need is to take a deep breath, dive in, and trust the waves. Each new week is a chance to walk towards new opportunities, push through challenges, and embrace the unknown with excitement. But… if we could just spend all week with our paws in the waves instead we totally would 🌊

Since we opened Wildbarc 4 years ago we have always used retired rope to make our rope leads. We understand how difficult rope is to dispose of and it’s important to us to always find ways to create something new out of something that would otherwise end up in landfill. As part of our sustainability commitment we will continue to always use this kind of rope.

Using retired rope does however means it’s very hard for us to restock a colour or style when it sells out. We do look for more but it’s not always possible. So you can imagine last week we couldn’t believe our luck when we were contacted via email by someone needing to find a way to dispose of their rope responsibly and it turned out to be one of our sold out favourites… Abergavenny.

Not only is this a favourite lead of ours but also named after one of our favourite market towns to visit. Full of dog friendly independent stores, beautiful bakeries, a thriving market, and close to some of our favourite walking routes around the Black Mountains, it holds a special place in our hearts. Have you visited? If not you need to add to your Wales wish list 🙏

Autumn is just around the corner here in the UK. Stay warm on those crisp days with a Wildbarc beanie. You can choose between two styles: the Harbour, a thicker knit that sits higher on your head, or the Explorer, which fits snugly and wraps around your ears for extra warmth. No matter which one you pick, you’ll be ready to enjoy the autumn air in comfort and style.

Pair it with one of our double-lined, unisex snoods, made from soft stretch jersey fabric for additional warmth on chilly morning walks with the pup. They’re perfect as a neck warmer or you can pull it over your head for a balaclava-style fit on those extra cold mornings. We even have snoods for your furry friends, so you and your dog can stay snuggly together! Which style will you be rocking this autumn? 🍂🐕

Just like that, it’s Friday! We don’t have major plans this weekend, but we’re excited to fine-tune some new kit designs, yes, we have some super awesome goods in the pipeline. If the weather is kind, we hope to finally shoot some vids we’ve been planning for a while and also test out some new camera gear - does this make us influencers now? You may even start to see our faces some more, won’t that be nice for everyone! 😂 We’ll also of course be making some special time for local adventures with our little one, maybe a city stroll where Lola can enjoy all the cwtches from strangers ❤️

We hope everyone has had a great week and the weekend is exactly what you want it to be, big or small 🐾

The forest is our favorite place to explore, not just for the peaceful escape but because it’s full of life! Every walk brings something new – from birds singing to leaves rustling underfoot. Our dog Lola loves it too, sniffing for hidden treasures, finding the perfect stick to bring us, and rolling in every puddle she can find. It’s the perfect playground for us and our adventurous pup! Where’s your dog’s favorite outdoor spot? Let us know in the comments! 🌲🌳

Meet Finn! 👋 🐾

Finn was our very first ambassador when we launched our little shop four years ago - the OG! How time flies! From the start, our vision for wildbarc was to create a welcoming safe space for outdoor enthusiasts and the wonderful dog community - a place where dog lovers could connect, share adventures, trade tips, and enjoy life with their furry friends, together. One of the best parts of running our shop is building relationships with amazing dogs and their humans, whether they’re representing us or not. Watching Finn grow and follow his adventures has been a true joy, and having him in the wildbarc pack means so much to us! Finn’s family recently grew with the addition of a new sister, Piper, who is as gorgeous as Finn - swipe left 👈 to see ultimate cuteness with them both enjoying a beach day! It’s definitely making us think about finding a bestie for our Lola. 😬

Give a follow for all his amazing adventures with his lil’sister, Piper, and their awesome human, ! 🙌

Pinch punch first of the month (plus 1) How did September happen? 🍂

As September arrives, it brings with it the familiar sense of new beginnings. For many of us, the start of September has always signaled the start of a new school year—a time for fresh notebooks, sharpened pencils, and the excitement of a clean slate. Even as adults, that feeling lingers. There’s something about this month that feels like a reset, a chance to refocus and set new goals.

Does anyone else still feel that back-to-school energy? It’s a reminder that we’re never too old to start something new. So, here’s to embracing the opportunities that come with this change of season.

September for us brings so much excitement, a new page turned in our book. We’re embarking on planning our next season products, working on (dare I say it… 🎄🎅) and always designing and discovering new items we want to bring you. Work aside, September brings the smell of Autumn, of fresh crunchy leaves, 🍁 of cosy hot chocolates ☕️ after muddy walks, misty forest walks and log fires 🪵

Let’s step into September with renewed purpose and the excitement of a new journey ahead! What do you love most about this new part of the year?

Looking back at weekend 🔥

A reminder: Don’t let hustle culture make you forget that rest, too, is something on your to-do list. Sunday is a time when you sit back and reflect on all your blessings. Smile at all the good things that you are enjoying, take note and soak up every moment. Breathe in the smells of those pine trees, touch that heather and make time to be at peace 🙏

Hiking with your dog is an amazing way to bond and enjoy the outdoors together! 🐾 Whether you’re going for a multi-day adventure, a day hike, or a camping trip, here are some tips for a safe and fun experience:

- Check your dog’s fitness and experience level.
- Pick a trail that suits your dog’s breed and size.
- Bring essentials like food, water, and a first-aid kit.
- Think about how much weight your dog can carry in their backpack.

On our recent multi-day hike we wanted to ensure our Lola had the best experience, was always safe and comfortable throughout, and it proved to be a wonderful success! So we thought we’d share some of our’s and experts recommendatiosn on ‘Hiking with your Dog’ kicking off with the subject of “How Much Weight Can a Dog Carry on a Hike?” If you’d like to have a read head over to the Ramblings section of our website now - link in bio.

Happy trails! 🐕🏞️

Wow, is it the end of the month already? It’s also friday (woohoo) and it’s that time where we like to pause, reflect and share just what’s been going on at Wildbarc HQ and a bit about what we’ve done outside of work 🙌

Looking back at this month we wanted to share with you what’s been going on, this isn’t a sales pitch, not to brag, just something we want to share with you all, and to celebrate our little milestones as none of this would be possible without our incredible community ✌️

So without further delay… this August has seen:

📚 5 Wild Guides inspiring walks in Dragons Back, Llangorse Lake, Bridgend Coastal Path, Elan Valley & Wellington MF509 memorial

💙 We launched a very much requested new colour-way of canvas collar & lead in teal

🥓 We held a competition with our favourite dog treat brand to win some exclusive goodies. Thank you for all the entries and support, we wish you could have all won

🦮 Not one but two brand new jacquard collars: Coglians and Lobouche from end of line fabrics. Both collars can be found in the outlet

🥾 In our personal time we walked the Gower section of the Wales Coastal Path, backpacking over 3 days covering approx 35 miles carrying 22lb bags. Wow, what an experience and would highly recommend, we’re already planning our next section to complete. Blogs and videos to come :)

Thank you to every single one of your for your support, love and kindness ❤️

“Between every two pines is a doorway to a new world.”

I think we can all agree just how incredible Roo looks in orange, the perfect kit for a day exploring what hides in the forest. The different smells and sounds. The crunching of the leaves and snapping of the sticks. What a wonderful place to lose yourself in 🌲

Discover this 8-mile circular trail near Rhayader, Powys, which is considered moderately challenging. It usually takes about 4 hours to complete. While it’s popular for hiking you may also see mountain bikers, and it can get busy in peak times.

We recently walked this beautiful which winds scenically through the Elan Valley, starting at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre and going through Cnwch Wood. It follows the edge of Caban-coch Reservoir, climbs Gro Hill, and continues along the water’s edge, passing through Llanerchui Wood, crossing the Garreg Ddu Dam, and returning along the Elan Valley Trail.

Most of the trail is paved, but some parts are on busy roads and are less scenic. When we completed this walk via AllTrails we chose to complete the walk anti-clockwise to get the road section out of the way first. This is quite a hilly walk and along the route you may encounter overgrown areas with ferns, but they are usually easy to navigate.

When planning your walk, remember to bring essentials such as suitable footwear, a first aid kit, plenty of water, warm layers, snacks and waterproofs for sudden weather changes.

You can find the link to the route in our bio.

You may have already started receiving one our latest postcard drops in with your order, featuring four new locations: Portmeirion, Giant’s Causeway, Staithes, and Eryri. It was never our aim to have huge branded packaging, our design is considered and so when planning our packaging we wanted it to have purpose, not just a throwaway flyer trying to sell, sell, sell! It’s not what we’re about.

If you’re new here, we always include a little handwritten thank you card with your order which we hope will inspire your next adventure. If we remember correctly, we’ve sent out around 20 different limited edition postcard designs since we launched them some time ago, along with our unique festive-themed stories, which we plan to continue this year... although admittedly Charles Dickens might have marked us down on Rotten Tomatoes! 😂

With so many of you returning to us, we want to change things up slightly, so in the future, we’ll write on the card for your first order, and then leave the next one’s blank after that. This way, you can inspire someone else by passing it on, framing it yourself, or collecting them all as we are so touched to hear so many of you already do ❤️

If you’re purchasing as a gift then leave a note at checkout detailing what you would like written on the card and we’ll be happy to sort that out for you 🙌

For some of us today is an extra day to the weekend 🙌

As you set out to explore and enjoy the extra long weekend, we hope you find time for both adventure and relaxation.

Whether you’re settling down in a cozy pub garden, spreading out for a picnic after a long hike, or relaxing by your tent at the campsite, a Wildbarc Settle Mat provides a comfortable and convenient spot to unwind.

Enjoy your bank holiday to the fullest, and may it be filled with joyful walks, cozy moments, and plenty of time to make memories 🫶

And to those who are working or don’t have bank holiday then we hope you still have a lovely day 🧡
