🌬️ Attention San Antonio Pet Parents! 🌬️

The forecast is calling for dropping temperatures! With inhospitable conditions, we will have ZERO TOLERANCE for weather related violations.

Let's make sure our entire family (including 🐶🐱) stays safe and warm. Here are some crucial reminders:

🐾 Bring your pets inside to shield them from the cold.

🐾 Provide shelter with three walls, a raised floor, and a roof for outdoor pets.

🐾 Ensure pets ALWAYS have access to food and clean water.

🐾 Before starting your car, check for outdoor cats seeking warmth near the hood or tires.

And a friendly reminder: Tethering dogs with chains is illegal under the Safe Outdoor Dogs Act. Animal Care Officers will be on patrol to address potential violations. If you have any concerns, report them to the City's 3-1-1 Customer Service line or online at saacs.info/311. If you are unable to reach 3-1-1, please contact SAPD's non-emergency line by dialing 210-207-7273.

We are so happy to announce that Snow has found her forever home. We are so happy for her and her new family!

Looking back at all the dogs we have rescued, thousands through the years and even after 11 years it still gets us so emotional. It takes a lot of hard work from our fosters and generous donations to get these guys ready for adoption. We are so grateful to each and everyone one of you who help in their way. We couldn’t do it without you.

Snow is looking for her forever home!
Snow is a 1.5 year old Great Pyrenees and Labrador Retriever mix with a very sweet and loving personality. She does well with other dogs, children, and adults. She loves to cuddle and is eager to give lots of affection. While she enjoys laying on her soft bed and taking naps by your side, she won’t turn down an adventure. She enjoys running, playing fetch with her toys, and exploring outside. She is potty trained, walks well on a leash, and does well on car rides. She will make a perfection addition to a family willing to love and spoil her.

Our Pet-Friendly Warming Centers are now OPEN. 🐾 Bring the fur-kids and stay warm during this winter freeze. Please be sure to have all dogs on proper collar, harness, and leash, cats must be in appropriate travel carriers. Centers will provide crates for temporary use, pet bowls, in addition to pet food and water and basic pet care supplies (cat litter, litter boxes, etc.).

Nuestros Centros de Calentamiento están ABIERTOS y aceptan mascotas! Por favor a segúrese de tener a todos los perros con el collar, el arnés y la correa adecuados; los gatos deben estar en los transportadores de viaje apropiados. Los centros proveerán jaulas temporales, tazones, además de comida y agua para mascotas y suministros básicos para el cuidado de mascotas (arena para gatos, cajas de arena, etc.).

Lulu is a special lady looking for her special family. She is 11 years old and weighs 11 pounds. After being blind for several years, she underwent surgery and has regained sight from her only eye. She is ready to see and enjoy life! She gets along well with other dogs, children, and all people. She is trained to go potty outside or on p*e pads, and knows how to walk on a leash. Lulu enjoys going out to explore and taking car rides. She takes several naps a day and loves to be petted and carried. She will definitely fill your home with lots of love and cuddles.

This wonderful puppy is all glowed-up and looking for a new home. Meet Ozzy, Prince of Darkness! He wandered a foster’s studio at just 8 weeks old, skin and bones. Just look at him now! He knows how to sit, he's doggie door trained, and he just LOVES to give kisses. He's a snuggle bug too!!!! He will stay in a crate or small room for extended periods of time and the only things he chews on are treats and toys (just keep your shoes in the closet, he does love shoe laces!) He no longer has accidents in the house and is learning to walk on a leash. Coco is a very sweet girl ready to fill your home with lots of love, kisses, and snuggles! She is 8 years young and weighs about 15 pounds. Her favorite hobbies include going on car rides and taking walks in the neighborhood with her foster family. While she loves being indoors, she also enjoys exploring and playing outside and being able to run together with her three fur siblings. She will never turn down a treat and will always be ready to cuddle up next to you in bed. Coco is fully potty trained, does great on a leash, and gets along with other dogs similar in size.

Lulu’s surgery was a success. They removed her cataract and placed an inter ocular lens so she can regain 100% of her vision in that eye. Thanks to all of you who have donated towards her surgery Lulu will be able to see again. 🥹 We still have about half the funds to raise, so any amount to help us reach our goal helps. Lulu needs to have eye surgery. She’s missing an eye and she’s blind in the other one. She’s a good candidate to get her eye repaired and can recover 80% of her eye sight if she has her surgery. What a difference a little TLC makes. Max is looking good! He’s ready for his forever home.

Max is a very sweet and energetic 1 year old pup. He was rescued off the streets, treated for mange, and had to have his toe amputated due to an injury. Despite having had such a rough start in life, Max is happy and eager to love. He likes to play catch with his toys and enjoys taking walks on his leash. On relaxing days he’ll snuggle up to watch movies and have his belly rubbed. He is learning how to use the bathroom outside and p*e pads inside. Max is ready to find his forever home and have a family that will love him unconditionally!

Max is doing great, less itchy. Unfortunately, he had to have a little toe amputated, but is doing well after surgery. He likes to lay on the couch with his foster dad and watch TV. He has a little cough, but got medication for that today too! He truly appreciates your support and so do our other doggos! 🙏🏼

TONIGHT: SEVERE WEATHER ALERT!

Bring all pets inside!

We will be embracing the next few days of cold wintery weather in the San Antonio area. If you haven't already, make sure to protect your pets, especially those outside. With the new state law in effect as of yesterday, the Safe Outdoors Dog Act means dogs can no longer be tethered with chains at any time.

The law also notes that no dog should be left restrained outdoors and unattended when extreme weather may place the pet in severe distress. With the winter storm watch for the rest of the week, outdoor pets should be brought inside.

Animal Care Officers will be on patrol through the rest of the week, addressing potential violations. Violators can face impoundment of their pet, fines up to $2 thousand, and 180 days in jail for repeat offenders.

Residents can report possible animal ordinance violations by calling the City's 3-1-1 Customer Service line 7 days a week or report online at saacs.info/311.
