Mnr en Mev Franken se katjie Patrys.. Voel beslis beter na sy paar dae in die hospitaal met bosluiskoors..
A heart warming story for #feelgoodfriday.
Three months ago the Griffens’ loving family dog was hit by a car. Bruno arrived at our practice in the early hours of the morning. He was in severe pain with injuries to his chest and front limbs . Dr. Smal assessed Bruno and noted that Bruno’s prognosis was guarded as he was lame in both his front limbs. But the Griffens decided not to give up and asked us to do whatever is needed to save their dog. Bruno received emergency treatment , drip and very strong pain medication . He remained in hospital for a week . His chest injuries healed up very nicely , however Bruno was still lame in both front limbs. He was sent home with medication to start his road to recovery at home. Two weeks later Bruno got gangrene in his right front leg, and the leg had to be amputated. The prognosis was still poor . But Bruno and his owners did not give up . He returned to the practice on a weekly basis for check ups . Bruno’s hindlimbs were getting stronger and he taught himself to lift the entire front portion of his body up. At home Bruno was doing range of motion exercises and swimming in die dam, with the assistance of a floatation device. But he was still not placing his left front leg. Our Vets decided to make a splint, for the leg. This splint had to be adjusted constantly as Bruno wanted to run before he could walk. Every follow up we could see Bruno’s progress, and finally after 3 months of intense treatment, determined vets and owners. Bruno was finally able to use his front leg unassisted . Truly a remarkable and inspiring story that makes our profession worth while.
