Last year I started writing my what I thought would be my third book dealing with reactive dogs. My focus on training dogs are mostly dogs that are not coping with their environment. However... even though I have this knowledge to share it never came to life.

This year my Beagle loss the use of his hind legs, so I decided to start writing a book about Joey. His journey since we adopted him a few years back. He was a reactive dog himself and not tge easiest dog to intergrate into a household with 5 other dogs at the time and two children. This is where many people give up and I am trying to create hope and that through this book people will be encouraged to keep on trying and getting help . Not surrendering their dogs when its not easy at first. He has had such a rich life with so much love to give and so many lessons taught. So hold on... Joey's story will follow soon.

Training horses with clicker training

Clicker training a horse through hand targetting in just over a minute to go into a dam. Clicker training gives animals choices and give wanted behaviour without any force. "Excuse the background noise😉".

Shaping your dog;The Positive Way is a guide to help you not only train your dog in a humane easy to understand way but also to help you understand your dogs behaviours instead of anthropomorphizing (giving animals human emotions) by labeling them with words like stubborn or stupid. Home work: Get your dog to have impulse control. Barging out by doors and gates is part of little to non impulse control. Work on a sit/stay by slowly increasing time and then distance. Use a treat and move it from your dogs nose about 15-20cm away from him. First horizontally left and right side and the vertically. Repeat each step 5 time before moving on to the next step. Reinforce your dog with a bite size treat every time that you bring the treat back again to his nose for not standing up. Once your dog can do this at least 4 out of 5 times right can you start moving on the spot by swaying from side to side. Then only can you start to move away 1 step at a time. Your end goal would be something like 2 minute duration 2 meter distance and being able to walk around your dog. Take your time and be sure not to skip a step.
